This place was sooooo cute! Came with two of my friends. We’re from Australia and speak little Japanese. They helped us order and recommended a dish. Helped us cook it and were very nice and friendly! First time we all had this dish and were pleasantly surprised. Super tasty and nourishing. Would recommend!!! :-)
View on GoogleVery good. I ordered the suishō-nabe (水晶鍋), which used chicken meatballs, tofu, and a lot of vegetables and mushrooms. It also comes with a smaller bowl of rice or noodles (your choice) which can be either put into the soup or brought out in a separate bowl. They brought my food out to a burner on my table to keep it warm. When they put the food on the burner and light the burner for you, they will tell you to wait 3 minutes before eating so that your food is warmed enough. The portions are large, so come very hungry or bring a friend to share with. My order was around 3000 yen, which I thought was worth it for the taste and quantity of the food. They didn't have English menus when I visited, but I just pulled out my phone and pointed at the name of what I wanted to order, a recommendation from a Tokyo guide book. The wait staff was very friendly and at least one of them spoke English fairly well. I read that the owner is a former sumo wrestler and that his recipes are based on what he ate at the stable where he trained. The sumo signed sumo pictures on the walls and other sumo imagery suggest that this is true. I think they take reservations for larger parties, but I'm not sure if you need one or how reserving seats works there. I arrived around 5 on a Tuesday by myself and was able to walk in and be seated right away.

View on GoogleWe made a reservation and visited this restaurant after being introduced by someone from Himi City, Toyama Prefecture. From the exterior to the interior and even the kitchen, the atmosphere of a sumo stable's staff meal really lifts your spirits. First, since there were three of us, we ordered two servings of the salt-based chanko stew. The cucumber with sumo wrestler's miso was delicious! The miso with small fish was fantastic, simply the best! The special fried chicken was juicy, and I could imagine sumo wrestlers enjoying it. The chanko stew is carefully prepared by the staff. The soup is delicious! Light, no, rich, a soup you can easily drink down! The tender cabbage is so good you can eat it all! The meatballs and chicken thighs are also great! We finished with champon noodles! As rumored, everything was delicious! We made a reservation and visited on the recommendation of someone from Himi City, Toyama Prefecture. From the exterior to the interior, including the kitchen, the atmosphere rooted in sumo stable meals lifts your spirits. First, as there were 3 of us, we ordered 2 servings of shio chanko. The cucumber with wrestler's miso is delicious! The wonderful miso with small fish is the best accompaniment to a drink. The special karaage is juicy too, and I can just picture sumo wrestlers enjoying it. The restaurant staff carefully finish preparing the chanko for you. The soup is delicious! Light, no, rich, a soup you can keep gulping down! You can keep eating the meltingly tender cabbage. The tsukune and thigh meat are great too! We finish with champon noodles! Just as rumored, everything is delicious.
View on GoogleA hot pot restaurant run by former sekiwake 琴ヶ梅! The restaurant is tucked down an alley, a 3-minute walk from Kinshicho Station's North Exit. Enjoy the signature chanko nabe, with a recipe passed down directly from a sumo stable! The motsunabe is also recommended. For individual dishes, be sure to try 「琴ヶ梅風鶏の唐揚げ」. There is also a wide range of seafood dishes. The sashimi platter and grilled tuna cheek are recommended too. Hot pot really is something you want to enjoy with a lively group, right? There are several chanko nabe restaurants in Ryogoku, one stop from Kinshicho, but if you feel like hot pot in Kinshicho, do visit 「琴ヶ梅」. The service is attentive too, and I think you'll have a great time! Former Sekiwake Kotogaume's hot pot restaurant! Located just a 3-minute walk from Kinshicho Station North Exit, tucked down one alleyway. Enjoy our signature chanko nabe, straight from the sumo stable! Our motsunabe is also highly recommended. For a la carte dishes, be sure to try our "Kotogaume-style Chicken Karaage". We also offer a wide variety of seafood dishes. The sashimi platter and grilled tuna cheek are highly recommended. Hot pots are best enjoyed with a lively group, right? While there are several chanko nabe restaurants in nearby Ryogoku, just next to Kinshicho Station, if you're craving hot pot in Kinshicho, be sure to visit Kotogame. The service is attentive, and you're sure to have a great time!
