After watching Sumo, this neighborhood gem serves the best tonkatsu at an incredibly affordable price. The locals who frequent the place are a testament to its quality. The food is cooked right in front of you, adding to the dining experience. Seating is limited to the counter, with no tables available. As you wait for your food, you can usually find a chair along the wall.

Visited on May 17 Went at about 8:30pm Ordered Upper loin plus aji fry and wasabi kombu for a cheaper price point than many other katsu places. They take order while you wait in line. Slightly slow serving speed although it is freshly fried in front of you. Quality is good for what you pay for and it’s nice that complimentary miso soup contains asari (clams) in it for that elevated umami.

This is the best meal we’ve had in Japan the service was so incredible and accommodating as we didn’t speak Japanese we got miso and green tea included in our meal making it was perfect to share if you can only make it to one restaurant make it this one I’ll be going home thinking about the pork

Very busy but there are stools to sit and wait. They do take away as well so you need to be patient. The tenderloin pork that we had was nice but a bit bristles at the ends. The dinner set is extremely good value. I coukd not finish all my rice.

Tonkatsu is always great here at one of these Ichikatu locations. You do not see as many tourists as the one in Ueno. The place was full of Tokyo working people trying to get a bite to eat after work. We spent less than 3000 yen for two here. Awesome value and kind of cultural experience.
