Was impressed with their mapo tofu, not too salty, not too oily.

View on Google・ To "Hyakkatei," the quintessential neighborhood Chinese joint (machi-chuka) in Kinshicho. The place Tama-san visited on "Machi Chuka de Yarouze." A neighborhood Chinese restaurant that had an explosion accident in the past and made a miraculous comeback. First I ordered a medium bottle of beer (550 yen), gyoza (500 yen), and the à la carte 木耳炒蚕 (800 yen)🍺 * 木耳炒蚕 (stir-fried wood ear mushrooms and egg with mustard) The gyoza has a very handmade feel and a soft texture🥟 The 木耳炒蚕 has a strong oyster sauce seasoning that makes you want rice🍚 I also ordered a gyokuro-wari (450 yen). Heavy on the shochu—super strong😆 To finish, I ordered the half fried rice & ramen (1,000 yen) with thin noodles, firm. The ramen is the nostalgic chuka soba of a neighborhood Chinese joint🍜 The fried rice, nicknamed "becha," uses lots of oil and softer rice, making it quite moist😅 You can really taste the umami of the chashu. The mama-san working the floor is super kind, and it's a cozy neighborhood Chinese restaurant👍 Thank you for the meal.
View on GoogleHey there^ ^ Hey hey, hi there^ ^ Welllll. Today's Sunday. It's great being able to sleep in on days off~ I slept until 10 AM^ ^ Took a bus to Kinshicho with no particular plan~ I love buses because you can slowly take in the cityscape~^ ^ By the time I got to Kinshicho my stomach was growling‥‥ Guess I'll go for lunch. So I'd already picked out places I wanted to go. The place I visited today is~ Hyakkatei^ ^ Arrival time: 1 PM Operation: 2 people Customers ahead: 3 Order at the table. There are counter seats and table seats inside. What I ordered Fried rice Wonton noodles Gyoza I think it was around 1800 yen‥ sorry‥ The storefront really feels like a neighborhood Chinese joint^ ^ I just love it~ This retro vibe! The becha fried rice is their specialty so it's a must^ ^ After you order, the old man cooks it right in front of you. This live feel! Irresistible. Waiting at a table seat~ the dishes arrive one after another^ ^ Wowwwww. Looks delicious^ ^ Let's dig in♪ First, the fried rice~ Yum yum! Truly becha fried rice. It's different from just moist fried rice. The ingredients are very simple. The Chinese soup is delicious too♪ Next, the gyoza~ Yum yum. These have a handmade feel too. A little on the pricey side, but loaded with veggies and delicious♪ Next, the wonton noodles~ Yum yum. Lacks a bit of punch‥ Maybe the soup is light‥ The noodles are medium-thick and wavy. As for the all-important wontons~ Hmmmm. Not much filling‥ Not much umami either‥ Maybe a bit meh‥ And so~ I finished it all♪ Thank you for the meal^ ^ A neighborhood Chinese joint in Kinshicho. The fried rice and gyoza were delicious^ ^ The ramen‥ They seem to have plenty of à la carte dishes too so next time I want to come at night. Beer in hand! I'll be baaack. Machi Chuka de Yarouze! That's the deal^ ^
View on GoogleEven though I'm a local, I visited for the first time the other day. The inside isn't very big, but our timing was good and we got in. It was our second stop of the night, so we meant to keep it light, but we had gyoza, yakisoba (thick noodles only), and happosai. Everything was very delicious❗ The woman working the floor seemed a bit brusque, but it's delicious so I'm definitely coming back. The flavor was just right, not too salty and not too bland, and we finished everything. Next time I'd like to come for the first round and try the mapo tofu and other dishes. The portions may be small for the price, but that can't be helped these days. It was very delicious. Thank you for the meal.
