A ramen shop in the old-fashioned town. I like miso tanmen.

It used to operate under the name Ikebukuro Taishoken, but it seems it no longer serves the Taishoken flavor. Right when you enter there's a ticket machine, where you buy a meal ticket. The long, narrow interior has counter seating only. In the long, narrow kitchen, the owner briskly and busily makes moyashi soba, raajan-men, and so on. There are also service sets. Photos are posted outside the shop, so it's best to take a look and check. The noodles come in a big portion and are delicious. You'll get full. As for the mildly spicy seasoning, it's not too spicy and warms you right up in the cold winter. At lunchtime it's always full of regulars. No customers linger, so turnover is good. I also wish I could have come back when it was serving tsukemen as Taishoken.

A shop in the Higashi-Ikebukuro Taishoken noren-kai. Chose the tamago-men! This is… both the egg and the soup are delicious (^-^) The chashu topping is good too!

The tanmen is tasty, but the shop is dirty. Given the times, I wish they'd at least wear a mask properly. He was coughing while making the tanmen, which had me going, hey hey, is this okay?

I found out that the owner who used to run Ryogoku Taishoken is, for some reason, now running a tanmen shop in the same spot, so I had the tsuke-tanmen. It's tasty, but regular tanmen might be better.
