I visited "Newston," located just a short walk from the JR Ryogoku Station East Exit. I had been curious about this place ever since I saw it featured on the TV show "Zun Kissa." The interior has a retro Showa-era atmosphere, with celebrity autographs on display. I ordered the "Napolitan" pasta, which is limited to just three servings a day, and an iced coffee. The Napolitan is a classic style with the ketchup sauce thoroughly coated. It had a nice balance of tanginess and richness, offering a delicious, nostalgic flavor unique to traditional coffee shops. The iced coffee I had after the meal had a clean bitterness that went well with the aftertaste of the pasta. It is a quiet, relaxing place where you can casually enjoy a meal in a retro atmosphere right in front of the station.

The retro-style café only has the look of the Showa era; the food and service are far from good. I tried the recommended hashed beef rice, but it tasted exactly like something out of a ready-made pouch. If it is truly made from scratch, then I apologize, but I don’t think I’ll be going back a second time. Normally, even when I’m disappointed, I give at least three stars, but this time it was so underwhelming that I could only give two.(29/Sep/2025)

People who complain about the smoke, do not go! There is a sign on the door that says smoking, so read it. I enjoyed this cafe so much, it is rare to find a seat to smoke. The coffee is expensive, however. I still think it is worth it to relax.
