A soba restaurant in a detached house in a residential area of 阿佐ヶ谷. It is popular, so booking by phone is essential. The exterior and interior atmosphere are outstanding, the service is pleasant, and the food is delicious—excellent. 🔳季節の野菜天せいろ 1950円 The soba is 二八, smooth to swallow and elegant in flavor. The tempura is generously portioned with plenty of seasonal vegetables. Fried in rice oil, it has a wonderful crunchy texture. 🔳出汁巻 Soft, with a meltingly tender center, and perfectly done. There is no sweetness at all, and the ingredients are beautifully showcased. I think this is one of the standout restaurants among the many dining options in 阿佐ヶ谷.
View on GoogleAt 手打ち蕎麦 やの志ん, I had soba, rice cooked with asari clams, and とり天. What first stood out was the soba’s aroma and its light, smooth passage down the throat. It had the natural character of handmade noodles, with flavor that pleasantly unfolded as I chewed, and I enjoyed it to the end without getting bored. It paired well with the dipping sauce too, and I felt it was a serving that let me appreciate the soba’s own quality directly. The asari rice had the clams’ savory flavor gently blended throughout. It was not flashy, but quietly satisfying. It was just right alongside the soba, and the pairing worked well. The とり天 had a coating that was not too heavy, with a crisp texture followed by tender chicken, adding a pleasing accent to the meal. Overall, a place to enjoy carefully prepared Japanese food in a relaxed frame of mind. It was a restaurant I would definitely want among my options when looking to savor soba at leisure in 阿佐ヶ谷.
View on GoogleThis was my worst dining experience in Tokyo. Wanting to try soba, I found this restaurant through an online search. After seeing the interior, I was very drawn to it. Even without a reservation, I arrived before opening, hoping to be able to dine there without trouble. When the staff saw me waiting at the entrance, they warmly showed me to a seat and introduced a set menu. However, I only later discovered that the restaurant actually had other, less expensive options, which I was not told about at the time. As a result, my family and I chose the most expensive set. Because the staff could not communicate in English, we also encountered considerable difficulty while ordering. Most disappointingly, when the soba arrived, I found a hair in the noodles. Although the restaurant apologized and took the meal back, I was dissatisfied with the way they handled it afterward. I had expected a fresh serving of soba to be made, but the meal eventually returned to me felt as though it had only been partially replaced rather than completely remade. Even more regrettably, when we paid, the restaurant offered no further explanation or additional gesture of apology. I am not insisting on a discount, but when there is a foreign object in the food, I expect a more proactive and sincere response. Japan’s service industry has long been known for its meticulousness and dedication to craftsmanship, so this experience left me quite disappointed. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience means I cannot recommend this restaurant. ────────────────── 【Japanese】 This was the most disappointing dining experience I have had in Tokyo. I found this restaurant because I wanted to eat soba, and its atmosphere appealed to me, so I lined up before opening without a reservation. When we entered, the staff kindly showed us in, but I later learned that the restaurant also had cheaper menu options. They were not explained at the time, so my family and I ended up choosing the most expensive course. Communication in English was also difficult, which made ordering inconvenient. The most disappointing thing was finding a hair in the soba that was served. The staff apologized and took the dish away, but I was not satisfied with what followed. I expected new soba to be served, but it felt as though only part of it had actually been changed. Furthermore, there was no additional explanation or sincere response when we paid. I am not asking for a discount. However, since a foreign object had gotten into the food, I expected a slightly more careful and sincere response. Given that Japan’s service industry is known for its attention to detail and dedication to craftsmanship, this experience was extremely disappointing. I do not usually write low-rated reviews, but based on this experience, I cannot recommend this restaurant. ────────────────── 【English】 This was the worst dining experience I had during my time in Tokyo. Japan is widely known for its hospitality, attention to detail, and professional service. That is why this experience was particularly disappointing. I rarely leave negative reviews, but based on this experience, I cannot recommend this restaurant.
View on GoogleA soba restaurant about a 3-4-minute walk from in front of JR阿佐ヶ谷駅, just as you enter a residential area after passing through the south exit’s bar district. It looks like the 1st floor of a private house converted into a soba restaurant and cafe, with a garden that creates a lovely atmosphere. You can enjoy delicious soba and tempura. The soba, tempura, wasabi, salt, and soba tea all conveyed careful work and attention to detail. It seems to be run by a couple, with a small interior containing counter seating for 4, tables for 2 and 4, and sunken-floor seating for 8. At lunchtime, once the seats filled up, they ended service after that single seating. There was a wide selection of alcohol, especially sake, so I would like to visit in the evening too.
View on GoogleVisited at lunchtime without a reservation before a trip to 沖縄. Luckily, there was just 1 table available. Everyone else had reservations. A couple in their early senior years by the window were enjoying a course meal with beer. Enviable. We ordered soba: 肉そば and 鴨南蛮. The duck’s thickness and roasted aroma were unlike anything I had experienced. I ordered a large portion, but it slipped effortlessly into my stomach. I would like to visit in the evening next time, but getting a reservation might be difficult.、、
