Update: thin, firm Sarashina-style noodles The dipping sauce was on the sharp side too, and I really enjoyed it In location, storefront, and taste, it's a perfect example of a neighborhood soba shop I had the mini katsudon and mini kake soba set (¥1,150-), and it tasted exactly as the photo suggests. Reassuring, in a way
View on Google【あわせ (mini oyakodon+mini kake soba)/1,150円】at 2025/1 Visited for lunch on a weekday. I'd been curious about あわせ, the mini rice bowl and mini soba set, and came to try it. The taste and presentation were those of a set at an ordinary soba shop, but I thought the price was somewhat ambitious for that. Perhaps it's partly because there are few competitors around this station. Rating=2.6 【Sake+edamame+fried squid tentacles+chikara soba/700+650+430+900円】at 2025/3 I came in for an evening meal. I sat at a four-person table and was surprised when the proprietress came to take my order and told me to order quickly because they close at 8. I'd previously been bothered by her manner toward customers, which hardly seemed appropriate for someone in a customer-facing business, but I just thought to myself, here we go again. I ordered hot sake and 2 snacks and sipped slowly. Concerned by the threat of the 8 closing time, I quickly ordered chikara soba to finish. When it arrived, there were two pieces of mochi with their corners still sharply defined; they appeared not only ungrilled but not even warmed in a microwave. Still, the soba was ordinarily tasty as usual, and considered as kake soba, it was reasonably good with a flavorful broth. The mochi was also enjoyable with the soba broth, and I finished it all. Thank you for the meal. Rating=2.8 【Mori soba+nihachi/550+150円】at 2022/8 This soba shop is on the shopping street near the south exit of 富士見ヶ丘駅. It's a small shop about as deep as its frontage is wide, with a kitchen at the back that you can't see into. There are a little over four tables. I came in at lunchtime. While wondering what to eat, I happened to look up and notice a paper-strip menu saying that nihachi soba made with newly harvested domestic buckwheat was available for an extra 150円 on each menu item, so I ordered it. Naturally, it didn't arrive immediately; rather than serving precooked noodles as neighborhood soba shops often do during the lunch rush, they boiled fresh soba in a large pot, drained and rinsed it, then served it thoroughly drained. The dipping sauce was also a proper traditional cold sauce, dark and strong. I thought I should have ordered lukewarm sake to sip while waiting, but it was too late. I caught a glimpse of the owner's face when he brought the soba. I appreciated his advice to eat it while it was at its best. Sets combining mini rice bowls with mini soba or udon seem popular on the menu. Lunch rating=3.6
View on GoogleI overate and drank too much yesterday, so I came in thinking I'd have a light soba lunch. Looking at the paper-strip menus on the wall, I spotted sakura shrimp… I ended up ordering 桜えびかき揚げそば for 1,400円. Until it arrived, I quietly waited while drinking chilled 金婚 sake for 650円. I could hear the kakiage frying, raising my expectations. The freshly fried sakura shrimp kakiage was piping hot, crispy, and generous. Chased with sake, it felt great. The soba was thin-cut, Sarashina style. It went well with the pitch-black Edo-style sauce. The soba cooking water was a little thick… There are 2 four-person tables. There are 4 two-person tables. It's a small shop, but I was able to take my time.
View on GoogleA 1-minute walk from the station. A neighborhood soba shop with everything from soba, udon, and curry udon to katsudon. There are 2 four-person tables and 3 two-person tables. The regular tenzaru is as pictured. It was nice that they brought the soba cooking water at the right moment without being asked.
View on Google《 Katsudon at a Showa-style neighborhood soba shop in 富士見ヶ丘 》 A weekday evening. I realized I hadn't eaten lunch and wanted something to eat, so I searched for a restaurant at 富士見ヶ丘駅, a station I'd never gotten off at before. Few restaurants around the station were open at this awkward hour, and just as I was thinking of getting back on the train, I found 山口家. The shop looked like an old-fashioned soba restaurant. Even the food models outside had a nice Showa feel. As someone who loves rice bowls at soba shops, I wanted to try it and went in. Because of the odd hour, there was only 1 group of customers. The interior also had a nostalgic Showa atmosphere that reminded me of childhood. The menu is written on the walls, so it's a find-it-yourself setup. There were surprisingly many choices, and after some indecision, I went with reliable katsudon. Although the interior is small, their infection prevention measures are thorough, with even mask cases like those at restaurants for entertaining clients! Haha After about 10 minutes, the katsudon arrived. They may not matter much either way, but because it was a Showa-style soba shop, I found myself hoping for green peas. (Didn't encounter any this time, haha) The katsudon had a slightly sweet broth that went well with the egg, very much to my taste, but the meat was a bit tough, so I gave it an average ★3. Since I didn't eat soba at this soba shop this time, next time I'm in 富士見ヶ丘 I'd like to try zaru soba+a different rice bowl set😊
