An excellent local restaurant where u can enjoy trad "unagi" dishes.
View on GoogleNICE FOOD. If you happen to be passing by this shop, stopping here for an eel rice bowl is a decision that requires absolutely no hesitation.
View on GoogleI visited during a temporary return to Japan and ordered the Ume unaju. There was also an eel liver appetizer as otoshi. The atmosphere was traditional, the food was delicious, and the amounts of eel and rice were nicely balanced.
View on GoogleApparently, this place has been around a long time. I have passed along this road hundreds of times and never knew! I suspect the lunch eel is from China, while Ume and above are domestic (Lake Hamana)? Light, with just the right amount of fat, steamed until plump, and very well grilled. Is it run by a married couple? They seemed kind and friendly, and I will definitely return. The prices are reasonable too, with unbeatable value.
View on GoogleSeptember 5, 22: did not visit. I had takeaway. Shaking as I thought, “E-eel for 3,600円…,” I opened the lid and—wow, amazing! Truly top-grade. The eel covered the whole surface. Nothing is sadder than an unadon or unaju with just 1 thin piece of eel flopped on top. The taste was thoroughly satisfying too. Properly delicious, living up to expectations. The eel's own flavor combined with the delicious sauce👌. The flesh was plump too. Also, it was good that the skin was not thick. You get that sometimes, right? Eel with rubbery skin (Anguilla anguilla?). The umaki was a little dry, perhaps because some time had passed with the takeaway, but it was still delicious. The egg was lightly seasoned so the eel's flavor could come through. As a Japanese person, I want to eat eel at a place like this occasionally. Thank you for the meal!
