older shop with decent quality unagi but a bit bland
View on GoogleAn eel restaurant with an atmosphere that really says “long-established institution.” The atmosphere inside is very relaxing. The unaju is light, but that doesn’t mean it lacks flavor; it tastes very refined. The sauce is just rich enough not to interfere with the eel’s flavor, so I feel the unaju is well balanced. It’s so delicious that I’ve visited many times. A restaurant I hope stays around for a long time.
View on GoogleThe eel was seriously perfect, with no bones at all, and it was cooked just right. The sauce had such a rich aroma that gently wafted out, slightly sweet but not cloying at all, and it went perfectly with the eel! The only thing was that the rice portion was a little small, and I felt I could still eat more 😢 Visited again on December 6, 2025 The eel quality is still wonderful This year, I tried almost all the Michelin-listed eel restaurants in Tokyo, but honestly, some had reputations that outpaced their actual abilities, and many tasted good but were too expensive 😂 In that respect, I feel this place has an extremely ideal balance of quality and price ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ And above all, I personally really love this Showa-style atmosphere ✨
View on GoogleA good restaurant tucked quietly into a shopping street where you can enjoy 坂東太郎. I ordered the top-grade unaju, but at 4,500 it felt much cheaper than in central Tokyo. A review said the grilling would take about 1 hour, so I planned to pass the time leisurely with beer+pickles, but the unaju arrived in about 20 minutes. Light and fragrant from the grill, what is this… yes, it doesn’t rely on the sauce and is lightly seasoned. The eel’s own savory flavor gently sinks in. It’s quiet too, so a return visit is definite.
View on GoogleA restaurant in my neighborhood that I’d been curious about but hadn’t managed to visit 坂東太郎 They serve this branded eel Apparently, not many places nationwide carry it I had its unaju They said it would take time because they start with preparing and steaming the eel, but waiting for eel is fun too It arrived after nearly 30 minutes The eel had no unpleasant smell and was very delicious The sauce felt different from my preference. The rice also seemed a little soft. But overall, I was very satisfied! The person at the restaurant was very pleasant too I’ll go again.
