Really sweet family restaurant, nice staff and good food for a great price
View on Google2026.06.26 (Friday) On a corner lined with stylish shops, I was drawn to the “great food here” aura of this place and found myself going in. Inside, the unabashed Showa-era atmosphere was exactly what I love, and I was delighted. The recent rise in prices seems not to apply here, and the outstanding value is wonderful. It felt removed from the bustle of the city, a strangely calming space. This time I ordered ramen and fried rice, and the flavors were well absorbed; you could tell they had been prepared with care. Next time I'd like to try the omurice! (The retro omurice seems popular; the noren curtain outside fooled me.) I can only come once every few years, but I'd like to return, so I hope they keep working hard and stay open until then.
View on GoogleA neighborhood Chinese restaurant perfectly described as old-fashioned. I had the fried rice. Personally, I think fried rice falls into either the separate-grained or fluffy category, but this was neither: it was heavy and clumpy, and didn't taste good. The texture was poor, there was no aroma, and the ingredients did nothing to bring out what makes fried rice good. I wondered whether the problem was the rice rather than the cooking process. Still, 730円 with a salad and soup full of ingredients is excellent in this day and age.
View on GoogleToryuen in Koenji A Chinese restaurant in Koenji . 〈Order〉 【Omurice】:790円 〈Drink〉 【Beer (medium bottle)】:640円 . 〈Notes〉 A restaurant I visited for a quick meal after returning to Koenji from my parents' home on the last day of the Obon holiday. I visited around 15:50 on a Sunday in August '25, and there were no other customers inside. . ・Omurice Served with omurice/salad/a small soup. ◯Omurice A hefty omurice covered generously with ketchup, with 2 green peas alongside. Both the outer egg and the ketchup rice inside were well cooked, giving it an old-fashioned, nostalgic finish in a good way. The ketchup rice had a savory flavor a little like fried rice rather than an overwhelmingly ketchup taste, and the densely packed little pieces of meat released more delicious flavor with every chew. Combined with the mildly sweet egg and the tang and richness of the generous ketchup, it became a flavor that made me want to keep digging in. The portion was very large too, an incredibly satisfying neighborhood Chinese restaurant omurice that was very delicious! ◯Salad Made mainly with cabbage, plus carrot/tomato and other ingredients, and served with plenty of Caesar dressing. The cabbage had a pleasantly crisp texture, and the saltiness of the Caesar dressing came through, making it easy to munch through quickly. It was just right as a warm-up before the omurice, and delicious! ◯Small soup A Chinese-style soup with egg, bok choy, and green onion. The balance of saltiness was excellent, a flavor perfect after a meal and a lovely way to pause and relax after eating the omurice! . The restaurant is about a 7-minute walk from the south exit of JR Koenji Station. Head right from the south exit and cross at the lights, turn left into Pal Shopping Street and continue straight, then go through into Koenji Look Shopping Street and keep walking until you see the restaurant on your left. The interior has the nostalgic look of an old-fashioned neighborhood Chinese restaurant, an easy everyday space suited to dropping in for a casual meal. Seating consists of 2 tables for 2 and 5 tables for 4, for a total of 24 seats. It's quite close to where I currently live too, so I'd like to visit again whenever I feel like a quick neighborhood Chinese meal! It was delicious, thank you for the meal (*´◒`*)
View on Google■Restaurant name Toryuen ■Location Shin-Koenji Station ■Budget 1000〜1999円 ■Items ordered ・Omurice ・Pan-fried gyoza ----- One afternoon. About a 5-minute walk from Shin-Koenji toward Koenji. I visited this neighborhood Chinese restaurant on “Shin-Koenji-dori,” which connects to Look Shopping Street. I'd been curious about it for a while. I finally had some time and was able to go. There are only table seats inside. I went around the quiet period, but there were 2 groups before me and 2 groups after, so it seemed reasonably busy. There is quite a bit of foot traffic in the area, so I suppose the location is good. I ordered the items listed above. ▼Omurice Omurice made with soft rice with a slightly high moisture content. It felt like eating glutinous rice and seemed to stick to my teeth. Chewy? Sticky? Something like that lol. The egg is well cooked and firm. The filling was char siu? I could only see ham, and the chicken rice had browned patches here and there. Neither good nor bad, a passing grade. The soup is delicious. Ramen might have been the right choice, so I'll try that next time. ▼Pan-fried gyoza A somewhat dry, dense texture. The vegetables are coarsely chopped and have some bite. Not very meaty. They feel thoroughly homemade. That's all. If I come again, it'll be ramen! Thank you for the meal. I'll be back. ※Please like and save!
