We are a dedicated taiyaki shop that uses homemade bean paste and a grilling technique called iccho-yaki. We moved to the Asagaya Pearl Center shopping street in November 2014. Iccho-yaki is rare even across Japan, but we use this labor-intensive method with particular attention to the softness of the filling and thinness of the shell. We think ours may be the most labor-intensive taiyaki in Japan. We also offer shaved ice exclusively during the hot months from May–October. We shave pure ice as thinly as possible to incorporate air, and serve it with flavorings that bring out the ingredients' flavors as much as possible. It's a small shop, but please take a look if you're in the neighborhood.

Tomoe-an is a well-known taiyaki shop in Asagaya, and it’s often busy with a line on weekends. On weekdays, however, it’s usually easy to walk in without waiting. Inside, there is a narrow counter with seating for about four people along the wall, where you can sit while you wait. I ordered the Kōgyoku apple taiyaki and was told it would take about 7–8 minutes. I took a seat, enjoyed some tea, and waited. When the freshly grilled taiyaki was handed to me, it was piping hot. Being careful not to burn myself, I enjoyed it straight from the grill — a truly blissful moment. The crisp exterior and warm, flavorful filling were absolutely delicious. A simple pleasure, done beautifully.

I’m not huge on azuki usually, but the taiyaki in this place is top notch. The cakes are made in small batches. They are crispy and fragrant and houses the red bean paste beautifully. Eat it while it is piping hot.

While walking around Asagaya, we stumbled upon this charming Taiyaki shop, and I’m so glad we did! The taste was absolutely unbelievable—crispy on the outside and filled with the most delicious, perfectly balanced filling inside. It was easily one of the best Taiyaki I’ve ever had. Later, we discovered that this is a very old shop with a long history, and it’s even been featured on some TV shows! It’s clear why it’s so popular—the quality and flavor speak for themselves. If you’re ever in Asagaya, this is a must-visit spot. You won’t regret it!

Tried the taiyaki but it failed from taste angle. Its quite bland and the anko was too sweet. Also the texture of the anko was not like smooth which I personally dont prefer.
