I visited for the first time in 10 years. I had the half fried rice and half champon set. The champon was reliably delicious. However, service took a while; the champon arrived so long after I'd finished the half fried rice that I'd almost forgotten about it. Since the elderly owner runs the place alone, some slowness is unavoidable, but things like washing the wok before serving food that was already cooked suggest there is still some room to improve the workflow.
View on GoogleI ordered the half champon + half fried rice set (800円). The champon is packed with ingredients, and the soup is milky, rich, and delicious! I don't think you can find this flavor elsewhere. A restaurant awarded ☆☆☆ on Kitanashuran. As Tunnels put it, “The place looks like a ghost, but it's monstrously delicious!
View on GoogleI came here for champon while visiting places featured on Kitanashuran. The restaurant's name is 唐八景. It's a short walk from Koenji Station. They have Nagasaki champon and sara udon, and I chose champon this time. When it arrived, it had plenty of vegetables and was quite a generous portion. The cloudy white soup looked delicious. The ingredients included crisp vegetables such as cabbage, bean sprouts, and wood ear mushrooms, along with chikuwa, squid, and more. I think the soup is pork-bone-based, with sweetness from the vegetables making it really nice. I sprinkled on plenty of pepper too. The thick, straight noodles were exactly what champon should be and went well with the soup. This is good~. While I was eating, the slightly gruff owner said, “Here,” and gave me a banana. I almost fell for him a little♪
View on GoogleA restaurant featured on Kitanashuran. The flavor is outstanding, just like in Nagasaki, but the interior isn't clean, so if that bothers you, it's best not to go in the first place. Showa-era ramen shops and Chinese restaurants were all like this. Every dish has so much pepper you might think it would overwhelm the original flavor, but the stock and umami are strong, so everything is delicious. Since he works alone, dishes come out in whatever order occurs to him, and the seasoning varies too. Above all, the owner's personality is great. Whether this is a good restaurant for you depends on whether you can love his character despite the dirty interior. People used to say the dirtier the ramen shop, the better the food. Perhaps that urban legend has now been erased by the clean-freak brigade.
View on GoogleIt's far from the station, but delicious! That's why I keep going back to 唐八景. The exterior and interior feel nostalgic. But the flavor is great. The yakisoba isn't bad either, but whenever I come here, I end up ordering champon. The portion is generous, so you can be satisfied without ordering a large.
