Nice, quaint, family run place. Was greeted by elder mom in full kimono attire. Great tempura fried on the spot. Will return!

A 5-minute walk from 高円寺駅. The lovely smell of tempura lured me into opening the door. Established 66 years ago. The third-generation chef said that 「天米」, whose name his grandfather was granted permission to use for a branch, now has only 2 locations left: 有楽町 and here in 高円寺. He mentioned that they've had lots of foreign customers lately as he deftly fried tempura in sesame oil in a copper pot. I ordered the 1,400円 tendon with sillago, shrimp, scallop, and pumpkin. The clear soup and pickles were light but genuinely delicious. The omelet was a welcome touch too. Above all, the crisp-fried tempura and flavorful sauce, restrained in both sweetness and saltiness, mingled with beautifully cooked rice—sooooo good! What on earth was all the tendon I'd eaten before? I finally understood that this is what real tendon means. It was a place that made me want to return with family and friends.

There used to be a very delicious tempura restaurant in 高円寺 called 魚藤, which closed quite a while ago. The tempura sign drew me through the entrance curtain at lunchtime. I had the three-variety tendon. Generous and delicious.

A long-established tempura restaurant with good-value lunch sets. I ordered the small shrimp tendon(950円). It comes with egg, pickles, and clear soup. The taste is unquestionably delicious. There's plenty of pickles too, making it good value. It seemed to be run by a married couple. The calm interior is soothing and relaxing.
