Not the most talkative feller but his food speaks volumes. The exterior is even more humble. It’s a treasure though. Must try.
View on GoogleCame in for lunch. Ordered zucchini and bacon pasta. I'd been craving pasta with that smooth texture you can only get at places like this. The zucchini was sweet and good too. My companion ordered beef tendon curry and let me try some. It was quite spicy, toward the upper end of what I can handle. The beef tendon was tender, and the contrast with the heat was nice. The place is small but has character. Do you know that distinctive “lived-in” feel of little independently run places? Someone who seemed to be a local regular came in, and the owner welcomed them and pulled out a chair. It felt like a well-loved place. The owner isn't particularly affable, so you might find him a little intimidating, and some people have given low ratings because of that. Well, I can understand how they feel, but this is an independently run place where you come to eat what someone makes with their own convictions, in their own way. I don't need someone fawning over me because I'm a customer, so I think it's fine. I hope he keeps making delicious Italian food. I want to come back.
View on GoogleA mysterious Italian izakaya serving sashimi delicious enough to rival 寿司なんば. Today I started with sashimi, then had sautéed veal with Marsala sauce, scallops with sea urchin sauce, deep-fried baby horse mackerel, and finished with octopus and green chili peperoncino. Without a doubt, a treasure of Asagaya. The sautéed scallops with Burgundy sauce go ridiculously well with white wine— (2025/11/14)The fried horse mackerel is ridiculously good—
View on GoogleEverything is delicious. I especially like the oven-baked eggplant.
View on GoogleNothing flashy, but the food is good and reasonably priced. It has the feel of a casual Western-style Japanese diner where you can enjoy a good meal.
