It’s a cozy mom n pop restaurant that serves Tonkatsu (pork cutlet) and other dishes like shrimp mayonnaise, chicken negi (green onions) to name a few. The serving portions are very generous and they do take outs as well. Average dish served with miso soup, rice and pickles are about 1,000 yen so it’s very well priced. Chicken Katsu, shrimp mayonnaise and Tonkatsu are a must try (and our family favorite.) There’s also a little turtle to greet you if he’s awake.

One of my favorite mom-and-pop eateries for pork cutlet (Tonkatsu) chicken cutlet (Chiken Katsu) and pretty much anything including deep fried horse mackerel (Aji Fry) and fried squid. If you are planning to go with children mind that this is a smoking place and it is usually the case at night. The 2 silver citizens that run the joint and his son who make for great conversation but only speak Japanese. Enjoy touring Japan like a local!

The people are absolutely lovely and provided the best food we got in Japan. Absolutely incredible food! Beyond that, after going a couple times during our stay and telling them we were coming back one last time on our last day, they sent us off with a gift and a small appetizer! Could not think of a better place to get food!

Sad news Before the review, I heard the turtle mascot that lived here passed away last year in December 2025 Rest in peace Apparently it had been here for about 40 years Now for the review, the intriguing place I'd been keeping secret was actually 三錦 Very close to 東軒 How do you read 三錦? Answer at the end This place is good too A grandpa, grandma, and young man who all seem kindhearted A counter for 3 people and 4 tables I ordered とんかつ定食 and added コロッケ Ahー that real feeling of eating tonkatsuー The croquette was packed with potato filling and soft The miso soup had shijimi clams, with flavorful dashi, and was delicious I enjoyed a comfortable meal Why? Because “Welcome,” “Sorry to keep you waiting,” and “Thank you” were said so gently Personality is part of the flavor too Have a look at the menu as well It's the latest version Even on a first visit, I didn't feel I had to be on my guard Next time I've got my sights set on しょうが焼き定食 and want to come back The answer is that 三錦 is apparently read さんき Well then, nyanpasuー
