大岩食堂Ōiwa Shokudō
South Indian curry and Biryani (spicy seasoned rice) shop that makes use of seasonal ingredients. At dinner time, you can enjoy small plate dishes using spices and alcohol. We have a wide variety of alcohol that goes well with spice dishes, such as natural wine, craft beer, and warm Junmai sake.

Very decent South Indian food cooked and presented by a Japanese owner/chef who previously worked at Erik South. Excellent “meals”.
View on GoogleI ate Biryani Meals. The elaborate dishes were delicious. Chicken meat was hidden under the Biryani. Even if you don't know the types or how to order, they will explain it gently. It is a small-scale shop under the elevated tracks, and it was always full, so it seems better to make a reservation. For reservations, it seems that ordering a drink is mandatory. Lunch chai was also delicious. 【Menu and price (as of July 2026)】 Biryani Meals (curry is special) Lunch chai was 2650 yen. 【Payment method】 Cash, paypay, etc.
View on Google【Answer of this shop】 Unknown 【Things you don't need to order】 Unknown 【What I ordered】 Biryani & Meals 1 type South Indian style chicken curry 【Impressions】 Everything is exquisite, feels like an experience-based shop. I feel they are good at mixing Japanese essence without killing the local taste. There are raisins on top and it matches the Biryani, amazing. The Biryani contains two pieces of chicken. If you make it half & half, the chicken is only one. Usually expensive.
View on GoogleSingle use on Saturday night at 8 o'clock. New exploration on the way to a beauty salon in Nishi-Ogikubo. There is a reservation and the congestion rate is 90%. Although it is a small-scale configuration with 2 tables and 1 counter for 4 people, the seats are wide and there is no impression of being packed. The atmosphere allows for single customers even at a somewhat late night time, and I did not feel it was difficult to enter even on the first visit. About 3 minutes walk from Nishi-Ogikubo Station. Located in the arcade under the train tracks, a location where you can arrive almost without getting wet even in the rain. Although it is near the station, it is a little out of the hustle and bustle, and it was a calm flow line. Set of chicken biryani & South Indian style chicken curry, Pork Vindaloo for 2400 yen. The famous biryani seems to be in limited quantity, and today was the last plate. The serving is fast at about 10 minutes, and the turnover is good. If you are aiming for Biryani, it seems you can ask for a reservation when booking seats, so if you value certainty, advance reservation is safe. Biryani has a light finish and the oil does not stand out. The amount is large, and the rice is fluffy and aromatic. The chicken meat is soft until the fibers unravel, and the taste enters to the center. The configuration is based on the assumption that you will pour yogurt raita after eating half, and acidity is added, changing the impression of the second half. The texture of cucumber enters, preventing monotony. South Indian style chicken curry is centered on the sweetness of vegetables and the oil is little. A faint acidity remains, and it does not overlap even if combined with Biryani. The amount is appropriate. Pork Vindaloo has the umami of vegetables in front, and the pork is soft. Compared to similar shops, the price is somewhat high including the location. The impression is that they balance it with the lightness of the taste and the speed of serving. Supports credit card and PayPay. There is no wet towel, only paper napkins. No water supply. Can be used alone or in groups, but up to 4 people fit well. If you are aiming for the famous Biryani, the assumption is early time or advance reservation. The fact that there is take-out and frozen curry is practical.
View on GoogleAbout 10 years ago when I learned about South Indian curry. I got addicted to this deliciousness, and I went to various shops like crazy. That was when this shop opened near Nishi-Ogikubo Station, the nearest station where I lived at that time. It was far more delicious~. Since then, it has been my favorite!! When I visited after a long time, there was a 10th anniversary flyer. Although the menu (form of serving?) has changed in various ways until now, it always has an outstanding sense of stability, and I am really grateful. Side menus are also not wrong, but the rasam soup here is especially to my taste. It has a good taste that seems effective for a tired body or summer fatigue. The alcohol menu is also abundant, and the selection feels good. There are wine and sake, and their sense is outstanding. At night, can you drink with a little side dish without ordering Meals? It's a waste, if you go all the way, you can't help but order Meals. I think this is a good shop worth going out of your way for!
