I come here often. There are table seats as well as a counter, so it's easy to enjoy yourself with a group of friends or on a date. Besides the regular menu, there are recommended dishes that change depending on the day, so keep an eye out. They also have several local sake options, mainly from Tohoku. I highly recommend the maru-hatsu and shiokara yakisoba 🤤
View on GoogleThis is an izakaya under the elevated tracks in Koenji, behind Daily Yamazaki. Apparently it's open until 5 in the morning (according to the customer next to me). The grilled skewers are very tasty, but perhaps a little ordinary for this price... I felt they weren't bringing out the best of charcoal grilling. The individual dishes were creative and delicious. The potato salad with its rich cheese flavor was good! They also have something called a pirate mug! You get 3 mugs' worth for about the price of 2. It's a good deal, and you get to feel like a pirate. If you're wandering around Koenji late at night, this place might just come to your rescue!
View on GoogleA 5~7-minute walk from Koenji Station. This izakaya serves yakitori and Miyagi cuisine, heading toward Nakano just past Kannana. I often come here with coworkers. [Food] For yakitori, the homemade tsukune is tender and well coated with sauce ◎ The maru-hatsu, served without splitting the hearts open, is also very delicious, with savory flavor spreading through your mouth. For Miyagi cuisine, I recommend the Kesennuma horumon and shiokara yakisoba. The recommended menu, which changes depending on the day (?), also featured seafood from Miyagi. [Drinks] The drink selection is extensive, with beer/highballs/sours/shochu/awamori and more. I like sake, so as I was looking at the cooler lined with Miyagi sake, a staff member let me have a taste. [Service/Interior atmosphere] I get the impression there are many regulars at the counter, and seeing everyone chatting so happily really stood out. I hope that someday I can join the regulars for a chat... The staff are kind and very friendly, and the service fits the atmosphere of the place. The building itself is old, and the interior isn't exactly sparkling... But that also gives it character and a nostalgic feel. It's one of my favorite izakayas.
View on GoogleI didn't know the area at all, so I asked AI for a recommendation, and it suggested this place. I heard it was easy to visit alone and have a drink at the counter, so I went in. I had fun chatting with strangers at the counter, and the skewers were carefully grilled and delicious! The prices are good value too—you can't go wrong!
View on GoogleApparently the owner was in Kesennuma City, Miyagi Prefecture, when the earthquake disaster happened... For people originally from Miyagi, this seems like a place where you could drink alone while chatting about home... Perhaps it was just that day, but the variety of local Miyagi sake felt limited. Still, I got to drink my favorite local sake, 「Hamachidori」 from Kamaishi in Iwate, so that was nice in its own way... I came here for the second round of the evening, so it's a place that makes me look forward to settling in and taking my time next visit.
