View on GoogleIt is quite a walk from 荻窪駅. Head west along 青梅街道; it is near the 『八丁』 intersection. The building looks nice, but the restaurant seems to have a long history. Despite being far from the station, it is packed with customers. The soba, dipping sauce, and even the soba cooking water were delicious. Very satisfying ◎ It is lovely to have a soba shop like this, loved by locals, near your home.
View on Google●Restaurant atmosphere 『桃蕎庵 こばやし』 is a neighborhood soba shop along 青梅街道, about a 15-minute walk from 荻窪駅. Established in Showa 25 and renovated in Heisei 16, the interior is clean and has a calm atmosphere. Loved by locals, it is perfect for everyday dining. ⸻ ●Highlights of the food The soba is nihachi, thinly cut yet pleasantly firm, with an enjoyable aroma. The mori soba is reasonably priced at 500円 and has a smooth texture that goes down easily. The meat soba(1,000円)is a satisfying bowl packed with tender meat in a slightly sweet broth. The tenzaru soba(1,250円)comes with soba served in a rectangular steamer and tempura made with 2 shrimp, making for a generous meal. ⸻ ●Other menu items Besides soba, the varied menu includes katsudon, curry nanban soba, and cold tanuki soba. The curry nanban soba in particular pairs spicy curry wonderfully with soba and is perfect for a cold day. ⸻ ●Service and atmosphere Food arrives relatively quickly after ordering, a welcome feature during busy lunch hours. The interior is bright, with mainly table seating and a layout that is easy for families and older customers to use. ⸻ 『桃蕎庵 こばやし』 is a traditional neighborhood soba shop cherished by locals. With delicious soba and a varied menu at reasonable prices, why not stop by when visiting 荻窪?
View on GoogleA neighborhood soba shop A soba shop along the main road, with regular tables and a large communal table inside The menu only has individual dishes, with no sets or anything like that Solo diners sit at the communal table I ordered katsu curry rice The katsu was freshly fried, crispy, flavorful, and delicious The lack of a wet hand towel or tissues was a bit disappointing.
View on GoogleCurry nanban soba 950円 桃蕎庵こばやし 杉並区桃井1-5-1 My first noodle visit, at around 12:5. A soba shop I have known was here for a very long time. I have been eating nothing but ramen lately, so I came for soba for the first time in a while. A restaurant with no lunch specials—rare these days⁈ I chose curry nanban. The bowl arrived after a little while. Quite a simple curry nanban. Pork, perhaps? Definitely not duck. The curry had a pronounced Japanese broth flavor and was mild and mellow. I slurped the noodles without any expectations, and—oh! Thin, white Sarashina noodles⁈ Pretty good. I liked how they resembled the firm, clean-snapping noodles in the niboshi ramen that has been popular lately. Perhaps kake soba would have showcased the noodles better. That is what I thought.
