A friend lives nearby and had been curious about this place for a while, so we decided to visit this time. The interior has a homey feel. There seemed to be regulars too, giving it a friendly atmosphere. The yakitori is reasonably priced, and the tsukune in particular is fluffy and absolutely delicious! There are lots of other dishes too, which made me want to order more. Recommended.
View on GoogleAn old-fashioned establishment quietly tucked away on a street corner along 甲州街道. The food served here looks like ordinary grilled skewers and salads, but it is said that eating it brings strange experiences. One night, a mysterious man visited and ordered grilled skewers and a salad. This man was actually a traveler rumored to have the ability to control time. When he bit into a skewer, scenes from the past appeared before his eyes, recreating his childhood playground right in front of him. When he took a bite of salad, a vision of the future appeared instead, allowing him to see the town several decades later. But just then, the izakaya suddenly began to shake. The entire establishment transformed into a spaceship, and the customers set off on a journey through space. The grilled skewers became fuel, and the salad turned into a source of nutrition in space. もっちゃん was actually an alien, and her establishment was camouflage to hide a spaceship. After an astonishing space journey, they arrived on an unknown planet. Waiting for them there were giant life forms and other travelers who claimed to be from the future. They decided to start living together on this new planet, and the izakaya “もっちゃん” became its center. Determined never to return to Earth, they built a new civilization and spread the legend of “もっちゃん” to every corner of the universe. Meanwhile, on Earth, all that remained were stories passed down about what “もっちゃん” had really been. None of that happened, of course; this is a place where you can enjoy satisfying food and drinks at low prices. Since the entrance is in the basement, it might feel a little intimidating at first, but just open the door farther inside and an old-fashioned interior will unfold before you. There are counter seats, tables, and a raised floor seating area, and apparently local customers also use it for parties. There are plenty of regulars, and the place has a homey atmosphere. Apparently you can also keep a bottle here indefinitely, so it might be nice to make it your regular dining spot. By the way, it's closed on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, so keep that in mind when visiting. If you found this review helpful, please hit the 👍 button 🤲
View on GoogleAn izakaya along 甲州街道. I'd been curious about it, but it's in the basement and looks a little intimidating from outside, so this was my first time going in. There were quite a few customers inside, and the tables were full, so I was shown to the counter. There's a wide selection beyond skewers too. This time I ordered motsu nikomi, skewers, chicken wings, grilled Tochio fried tofu, ginger-fried eggplant and pork, and yaki udon. The motsu nikomi had no unpleasant smell, was well infused with flavor, and tasted delicious. There was a good variety of skewers, all of them tasty, and the wings were juicy yet refreshing with salt and lemon, which was nice. The grilled Tochio fried tofu and ginger-fried eggplant and pork had comforting, home-style flavors. Personally, I thought the yaki udon I had to finish the meal had an exquisite flavor and was delicious. The people working there seemed kind too, and I thought this was the sort of place I'd be happy to have in my neighborhood.

The atmosphere created by the staff and customers is wonderful. When I ordered Hoppy, I was surprised by just how much liquor was in it... (lol)
View on GoogleAn affordable, delicious place! I had liver skewers, yaki udon, grilled fish, and more. The amount of shochu in the Hoppy (around 450円) is incredible!! Much appreciated!
