This cafe is one of my favorite experiences in Japan. The person working was incredibly sweet, the chill, gothy music was perfection, being able to smoke inside and all of the art combined for an amazing experience. The drinks were tasty, and so well priced as was the art. 1000/10

Run's recommended points》 ☑︎A place combining the café マッチングモヲル (commonly called マチモ) and Gallery螺旋, just past the Pal shopping street. Besides light bites, meals, and sweets, they also serve alcohol. It's on the 3rd floor of a mixed-use building. Across the way is a steampunk shop run by a captain who frequently appears on television. Apparently this is a place where creators exhibit/sell their goods and works. If there's something you want, you can buy it when you pay for your meal. The interior is basically silent, so I think it's better to go alone. Apparently entering just to look around is prohibited, so you're generally expected to order some food or a drink. Smoking is allowed, so be careful if you dislike cigarettes. I overheard a conversation that made me wonder whether it's run by a parent and child. Besides chai and specialty coffee drinks, they also offer cocktails and alcohol. The 「hamburg steak curry set」 didn't feel instant, was properly generous and delicious, and the fresh cream decoration was cute. The black tea was perhaps just ordinary. I'm someone who goes to the creators' festival 「デザフェス」, so I'm happy there's a space like this in Tokyo where you can casually drop in. I think it's more recommended for people who want to appreciate or buy works than for those mainly seeking a meal.
View on GoogleI visited to see an exhibition by an illustrator I like. It seems creators regularly hold exhibitions and other events here. The interior is small, but it's a café that is both creative in a very Koenji way and relaxing. I also appreciate being able to smoke at my seat. They serve food and alcohol too, and you can enjoy their distinctive original menu.
View on GoogleThe shop had a nice hideaway atmosphere, and there were a fair number of handmade items, so it was fun looking around. The menu was distinctive, and the dessert was delicious. But the drinks tasted weak, so I didn't feel they were worth going out of your way to order here. Also, the interior is really cramped, so when you want to look at handmade items near other customers' seats, they're very difficult to view. (The lighting is dim too, making the works hard to see.) Smoking is also allowed inside, so I think it would be very difficult for anyone who dislikes cigarettes. Perhaps it was because there was an event, but a staff member and the manager, 2 people, were smoking near my seat, which was far too much. (Because the interior is small, the smell fills it easily.) The staff's attitude isn't especially bad, but it's certainly not good either, so I don't think it suits anyone looking for pleasant service. I only went for the event, so as far as the café goes, my feeling is just that it is what it is. But if you want to enjoy a hidden café and distinctive handmade items, it might be worth trying once.
View on GoogleA hidden café that feels just as Koenji as you'd expect. The walls are used as a gallery to display works, and works (products) by various creators are also sold. True to the shop's name, it's a space that bridges the people who make things with those who view and use them. I thought the café menu was quite high quality.
