Super awesome Chinese place. Open only Tbu, Fri, Sat and Sun noght. If you are in Nakano & Kouenji area, it is a must to go.

Pretty cool place , everything that was served was pretty good and the master was super friendly and told us he'd stay open for as long as we're there so we ended up staying from around 1-2am to until 4-5ish am.

A 3-minute walk from Higashi-Koenji subway station toward Ogikubo. Easy to spot with its red sign and open storefront. Apparently it was also selected for Kitana Shuran. Inside the counter is especially something. There are a huge number of menu items. Being open until late at night is good too. I had tomato fried rice and shio ramen. The tomato fried rice is moist from the tomatoes' liquid, reminiscent of risotto. Fairly tasty. The shio ramen has no toppings other than a boiled egg and green onions. Yellow, hand-crumpled-style curly noodles. It relies on a simple composition. The other dishes are tasty too, with some slightly missing the expected target, and they're delicious. The friendly, hard-to-pin-down owner is interesting too. 3.8

Kitana Shuran lives up to its reputation An energetic, friendly older man runs it alone The cooking is in full view, and watching it does make you want to smile wryly, but perhaps that's exactly what Kitana Shuran is He handles orders one person at a time in sequence, so food takes quite a while to arrive Lots of autographs are posted in the shop There was also Daishi's Michelin doll I had the special ramen and shio ramen Both were very salty. Maybe just right after drinking, but a little strong when sober It was an “I see” kind of experience There's parking next door for 100円/hour after 22

A small neighborhood Chinese restaurant with counter seating only. It's loved by regulars captivated by the owner's friendly service. Since it's a one-person operation, food can take a while depending on how busy it is. The interior is very narrow. When full, even the aisle disappears, and your shoulder might touch the person next to you. The shop's atmosphere is rather dirty. I can't help questioning the hygiene, but I think people who like characterful places like this would find it irresistible. The food was fairly enjoyable, though I wouldn't go so far as to call it delicious. Many people seem to visit because they're fond of the owner's personality. Also, it seems to open whenever preparations are ready, so going quite early increases your chances of eating in an uncrowded shop.
