Koenji Street right after getting off JR Koenji Station. As you pass by the row of shops, you will see "Mama-na" which has quietly set up shop. A shop that has been run by the wife alone for over 20 years. The inside of the shop is narrow with less than 10 seats, but it has a comfortable atmosphere surrounded by alcohol. I ordered salt-grilled mackerel and stir-fried vegetables. Actually I wanted to drink alcohol, but I am studying for a qualification exam so I held back... While saying it is a home taste, it is super delicious! But, somehow nostalgic. It was that kind of taste. While cooking, the wife told me her life story, so I who often eat out alone was able to feel the warmth of people (lol) A home cooking shop that makes you want to keep coming back, recommended.

There were no price tags inside or outside the shop. The landlady told me, 'We only serve our recommendations,' so I ordered the 'recommendation course.' The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't particularly delicious either; it felt like 'home cooking.' I thought it would be 1500 yen at most, so I was shocked when the bill came to 4000 yen per person. Given the portion and content, I couldn't help but complain on the way home that 4000 yen felt like a rip-off. Perhaps this pricing is unavoidable given the current inflation, but I wish they had at least displayed the prices.

When I ordered the cheese omelet from the menu at the back of the shop, I was forced to order the 'omakase' (chef's choice) because they said, 'We don't take orders, it's omakase.' After checking the reviews, it seems everyone else was able to eat what they wanted, which makes no sense. There were two of us, and we had one small pizza, three gyoza each, rice, and two or three small side dishes for a total of 6500 yen. The gyoza had too much seasoning (and was spicy), so I didn't feel the taste matched the price, which was disappointing. We didn't order any drinks, so I'd like to know the breakdown of the bill.
