Visit: public holiday Access: about a 9-minute walk from the north exit of 永福町 Station on the Keio Inokashira Line 11:00-14:00; visited at 11:05 and entered without waiting. The 1st floor only has indoor counter seating; is there a 2nd floor too? There were a few people at opening, and more customers arrived afterward. Wantanmen 900 Chahan 700 Besides dining in, you can take out uncooked gyoza (500 ※ bring your own ice pack). The chahan arrived in 5 minutes! The rice was fluffy with nicely separated grains. Tender chashu added a nice accent, and the overall seasoning was simple, with salt. Delicious! Another 2 minutes later, the wantanmen arrived. The roughly chopped scallions were nicely crunchy, and the amount of menma and wontons exceeded expectations for the price. Eaten with the medium-thick curly noodles and broth, this was delicious too. The broth was light with a seafood aroma. I finished both the ramen and chahan without getting tired of eating them. After eating, pay at the register near the stairs. I'd love to go again! It's a bit of a walk from the station, but I recommend it. Thanks for the meal!
View on Google■Restaurant name 草むら ■Location 永福町 Station, 方南町 Station ■Budget 2000〜2999円 ■Items ordered ・Ramen ・Chahan ・Gyoza (5 pieces) ----- One weekday. 永福町 has the huge name "永福町大勝軒," but there are plenty of other good places too. "草むら," which I visited this time, is exactly that: a historic neighborhood Chinese restaurant. Founded in Showa 25, or 1950, it celebrates its 75th anniversary this year. Wonderful. I hope it keeps operating for many years to come. Started waiting around 11:50, with 5 people in line including me. Weekdays are a good time to aim for. I got in after waiting a little over 10 minutes. Inside, there are 11 counter seats. Is there a 2nd floor too? I don't know whether it's used now, but there are signs it was used before. My order this time is listed above. ▼Ramen Chicken-bone broth with a faint hint of dried sardines. Old-fashioned chuka soba. The slightly watery broth feels characteristic of a longstanding neighborhood Chinese restaurant. A nostalgic taste with a wistful air. Getting back to the roots: this kind of thing matters. ▼Chahan A gentle flavor with a little salt and pepper. It's egg chahan with nicely separated grains, and its molded shape is cute. The flavor itself is simple, but it's a shame it gets a little monotonous toward the end. A half portion would probably be enough to enjoy it. ▼Gyoza (5 pieces) Fairly large. The filling is roughly chopped and crunchy. The garlic comes through strongly, so some people will probably get hooked. Full of a handmade feel. That's all. I got the impression of a typical neighborhood Chinese restaurant. I recommend the gyoza, so do give them a try. Thanks for the meal. I'll be back. ※Please like and save!
View on GoogleThe gyoza here are delicious too!! They're large and satisfying, crisp on the outside, with crunchy, crisp cabbage inside. Whenever I crave gyoza, I come back.
View on GoogleFirst visit on an acquaintance's recommendation. Counter seating only, 7 seats and 4 seats. Verbal ordering, cash payment. Ramen ¥850- Gyoza (5 pieces) ¥500- The gyoza are mostly vegetables and crunchy. The garlic-chive flavor is memorable, and although the seasoning isn't strong, the vegetables' savoriness and sweetness make vinegar alone sufficient. The ramen noodles are square-cut, medium-thin, and slightly curly. Modern Chinese-style noodles, different from the old-fashioned kind. The broth is gentle, to put it positively. Weak in saltiness and umami, with only a faint dried-sardine aroma. Yet somehow the aftertaste lingers. Considering taste, quantity, and satisfaction, the value is average. I have no sentimental attachment, but it's a nostalgic, comforting taste, like seeing lights in an unfamiliar rural town. It's a little far from the nearest station too, but fans are always lining up here.
View on GoogleEnjoyed the food as much as ever. The large gyoza🥟 are good too. Work kept me from visiting for about 20 years. Since returning to Tokyo late last year, I've been able to eat here again. I'm a little sad😢 that the chukadon is gone, but I notice a high proportion of chahan orders whenever I visit, so I'd like to try it. However, I always order a large ramen, so it hasn't happened yet.
