[A place run by an owner who handles everything solo with finesse] I ordered aji fry & shogayaki rice, plus a large katsu curry. The total was 1700 yen. The katsu curry is so good! The katsu is crispy and pairs perfectly with the curry sauce! The sauce has just a slightly bitter note… The combination plate has a comforting taste… you can't go wrong with it (haha). I also love that the miso soup is tonjiru! You could say there's almost no volume, but at this price in these times, I'm very grateful! ◎The quiet owner handles everything solo with finesse. The food comes out incredibly fast. Kitchen Nankai. Maybe 5 locations in Tokyo? I hope they keep going for a long time. Thanks for the meal!

I'd actually been curious for a while about this set-meal place, said to be probably the tastiest in the Kamiigusa area… To get to the point, it was amazingly delicious!!! This time I ordered “chicken katsu & shogayaki rice” with a large serving of rice. They fry the katsu and cook the shogayaki after you order, so I was first impressed that I could eat everything freshly made and piping hot… -The crispy chicken katsu and fluffy texture inside, -The perfectly strong shogayaki seasoning that clearly makes you want to shovel in the rice, -And eating the shogayaki sauce with the shredded cabbage on the side refreshes your palate and makes you want to dig in again… I thoroughly enjoyed such a happiness-filled lunch! The owner seemed busy handling everything alone, yet served us calmly and politely, which also left a great impression! There are only counter seats, so I wouldn't recommend going in a large group, but I can confidently say it's the tastiest in Kamiigusa, so please visit!!

★Summary★ Service Average Return visit Leaning toward yes rather than no Portion size 〇 A place to enjoy lunch in an old-fashioned atmosphere. 850 yen is an average price, though probably unavoidable given the area. The extensive menu means plenty of choices when bringing someone along. A queue had formed when I left, so come early if you don't want to wait. Personally, I wouldn't return if it meant queuing. A place I can recommend with conditions.

Hmm, how should I put it… I don't know about others, but is there another tonkatsu that makes rice go down this easily? This tonkatsu is just perfectly balanced for me. The coating fried at high heat, the fat on the meat, and that smell. I've eaten all sorts of things around the world, but Kitchen Nankai's tonkatsu rice ranks in my top 5.

Had the 750 yen katsu curry. Cabbage, rice, a slightly thin katsu on top, and runny medium-spicy curry. Very Showa, with that classic neighborhood Western-style diner feel—very appealing. And the runny curry was unexpectedly rich, paired well with the katsu, and was sooo good. A compact interior with 7-8 counter seats. Full at weekday lunch. No queue outside. The owner works solo, but service is smooth. A lovely nostalgic place that's rare these days, so I added 1 star as a show of support.
