I come here for lunch 5 times a week because it's near my work site There are several lunch sets and they're all generous enough to leave you stuffed😁 Since otherwise I can't work in the afternoon I always ask for less rice It's nice to get change from 1000円
View on GoogleI found a place fairly close to the Nishi-Ogikubo work site I often visit that could become a regular lunch spot. All lunches are under ¥1,000, so I imagined they might feel a little cheap, but… Sichuan-style stir-fried chicken set: a pretty hefty meal. Not just plenty of dishes, but a large main too. The name raised my hopes a little, and it delivered that spicy-sour Sichuan flavor. A sharp heat that makes you sweat. This is tasty. There are no cashews, so it isn't 宮保鶏丁; perhaps it would be called 魚香鶏丁? I turned down the lady's offer of a free large rice portion, but with this dish I'd recommend it. Even as a Chinese-food lover, I can't eat intensely regional mainland dishes every day, so I look for places where I can comfortably enjoy everyday cooking like this, called 家常菜, and add them to my list.
View on GoogleMy first visit. A neighborhood Chinese-style restaurant run by people of Chinese background. I ordered the tanmen and half fried rice set. The taste was reasonably good. The fried rice seemed premade and wasn't tasty. The interior was tidy, but the tables were sticky and it felt somewhat lacking in cleanliness. I probably won't return.
View on GoogleThe restaurant was revamped in 2019年10月. The name is the same, but it became a completely different Chinese restaurant, with service and cooking handled by people who appear to be Chinese. The ownership probably changed too. So reviews from before 2019年10月 refer to the previous restaurant. The food is considerably tastier than at the old place. The sweet-and-sour pork set (800円) is well seasoned and generously portioned, offering good value. It's certainly not exceptional, but it's very satisfying in an “this is just what I need” way. On another day I ordered the tantanmen and half fried rice set (850円), which was delicious too. The tantanmen isn't especially distinctive, but the sesame flavor comes through clearly. I'm not sure whether it was coincidence, but the half fried rice was cooked after ordering rather than premade, so it was fresh and tasty. Good enough to make me want to order the full fried rice too. Again, not exceptional, but being able to walk in and eat without waiting makes it a dish I'd order again.
View on GoogleIt seems to be run by a small team, but the menu is extensive, from neighborhood Chinese staples to fiery Sichuan-style dishes. So popular that Uber couriers arrive nonstop
