The other day, I saw a sign at a yakiniku restaurant advertising limited-time beef tongue curry for 1,000円, and felt drawn right in. I was quite hungry, so I ordered a large portion, but they said they could not do that because of the plate size. A separate plate was not possible either. As for the curry itself, this is entirely subjective, but I suspect they use commercially available curry roux. The small pieces of beef tongue in it were tender and delicious. Although I could not get a large portion, the regular rice portion was substantial, so I thought it was good value. I have also visited for yakiniku before, and the yakiniku was very delicious.

2025.1.11(Saturday) I came because I wanted to try it once before prices rise even more. Yakiniku set meal 1500円. Sendai beef 100g A set with namul, salad, kimchi, soup, and rice. The meat itself tasted ordinary. It was listed as A5 grade. There were very thin slices and what looked like offcuts from the evening service. The lean meat seems better if you do not grill it too much. Perhaps because I cooked it too long, it became tough. The namul, kimchi, rice, and soup were delicious. Entered at 13:50. They asked whether it was okay that they were only open until 14. I was thinking, if they can serve it, that is fine, but eating in 1 minute might be impossible? When I ordered the set meal, they readily said OK. When a party of 2 came in afterward, they said going a little past closing time would be fine. I was shown to a cold seat by the entrance. I do not know if it is family-run, but after 14 there was a strong feeling that they wanted me to leave quickly, which was not great. A group of 3 older men who seemed to be having a lunch meeting were drinking from midday and were noisy. Items other than the set meals are cheap, so maybe I will try again if I have the chance? Likelihood of returning ★★

It would be a problem if reservations became impossible to get and I could no longer visit, but… The meat here really is delicious. The premium salted tongue in particular is exceptionally good!!! I have eaten at many yakiniku restaurants, but have never found anything better than 京城園's premium salted tongue😋 I would be even happier with a wider selection of side dishes, but the meat alone is satisfying!

I visited just after opening on Sunday. Since we were there as a couple, we ordered a set. I am generally not someone who finds tongue particularly tasty, but here it was the right thickness and delicious. The food was good overall. Personally, I dislike sour Korean-style napa cabbage kimchi, and theirs was that sour type. I am hardly in a position to criticize others, but the staff seemed a little unfriendly. I wish they had just a little more warmth. Also, it was nice that they had a half-size gukbap.

My favorite yakiniku restaurant in Ogikubo! There are many yakiniku restaurants in Ogikubo, but for taste, value, and comfort, this one is my favorite. First, a review of lunch. I always order the yakiniku set meal. For 1300円, it comes with wagyu(rosu and karubi), rice, kimchi, a large serving of wakame soup, and assorted namul. I think being able to eat wagyu at this price is excellent value. Normally I prefer karubi to rosu, but the rosu here is delicious. The more you chew, the more the savory flavor spreads. Also, the accompanying kimchi, namul, and soup are all of a high standard! And the portions are generous! I am often disappointed by yakiniku sets with a token side salad of dry, spoiled lettuce, or just a few scraggly bean sprouts as namul that hardly seem worth including, but this restaurant has none of that, and everything is thoroughly satisfying. It is a neighborhood yakiniku restaurant, so it may look a little intimidating to enter, but I often see women dining alone, and I personally like the comfortable atmosphere with the TV on. It feels clean too. Finally, a request: they used to include iced coffee in summer and hot coffee in winter at this same price, but that has disappeared.. I liked drinking hot coffee from a cup after yakiniku.. I imagine it is difficult with recent trends, but I would pay an extra 100円 or 150円, so I would be happy if coffee could be included. I will keep coming often!
