Happy that we found a Hiroshima style okonomiyaki place close to the Nishi Ogikubo station! ( We lived in Hiroshima for 3 years) The place seats about 9 & the chef will cook it in front of you. We had the chef's special (o susume) and it was delicious! Friendly chef and we had good conversation in Japanese and English. Good service too. Cash only was not a problem. There are pictures of the Hiroshima Carp baseball team on the wall. Fun atmosphere!
View on GoogleLived in Hiroshima for 3 years and have eaten a lot of okonomiyaki. Lately there are many complicated ones, but this shop feels like a neighborhood aunt running it personally. That's delicious. There are also people who criticize, but I want them to understand this simplicity too.
View on GoogleIt was delicious! I don't know much about Hiroshima-yaki, so I don't know how it is as Hiroshima-yaki, but it was a thin, but fluffy Hiroshima-yaki. It was delicious. Before ordering, I asked if it was okay to order 1 for 2 people and they said OK. When served, they divided it into two on plates. Thank you. If you expect 'customer service where the customer is king' in conversation with the shop owner, there might be a gap, but that is also announced in the shop. (Written on paper and pasted) While I was in the shop, there was 1 take-out customer, one phone call, and someone who seemed to be a regular customer. By the time I left, they were preparing 10 new boxes for take-out in front of the teppan, so it seems the take-out demand is high☺
View on GoogleHiroshima-yaki shop located on the street on the left after exiting the south exit of JR Nishi-Ogikubo Station and entering a narrow alley called Nakamichi-gai. In Tokyo, there are few shops where you can eat Hiroshima-yaki, so this is a rare shop. It is a small shop with about 4-5 counter seats around the teppan and about 2 table seats. Hiroshima Carp posters are pasted on the wall, creating the atmosphere of Hiroshima-yaki. I think it is easy to enter even for 1 person. Hiroshima-yaki itself? with few vegetables and felt flatter than I thought. The sauce is a little spicy and poured a lot, so the taste felt a bit strong. I preferred one that was a little sweeter and had umami, so it was a bit of a pity. Mayonnaise seems to be 50 yen separately. The owner was friendly and it was a comfortable shop!
View on GoogleWhen ordering, the owner grills it in front of your eyes. Since it was my first time eating Hiroshima-yaki, I was taught many things about how to make and how to eat it. The owner is a very nice person who is friendly and attentive. It was the first time I ate Hiroshima-yaki, but I felt the old-fashioned taste. It was very delicious!! The interior of the shop has an atmosphere that makes you feel Showa, and it was easy to enter even for 1 person.
