Kitchen Kazu is such a homely and lovely place!!! The staff was so friendly and sweet too🧡 we bought the omurice with hamburger and curry with cheese egg! It was very well seasoned and comforting :))

A Western-style Japanese restaurant at the edge of the Koshin-dori shopping street by Koenji's north exit that looks like it's been around quite a while. The hamburger steak dishes seem to be recommended, but I visited because the omurice caught my attention. Omurice from a neighborhood yoshoku restaurant has its own appeal. Inside, the restaurant was surprisingly spacious compared with what you'd expect from the entrance. There were 4 tables with a continuous sofa along one side, plus 1 regular table. It was a little dim, so I couldn't see the back clearly, but perhaps the low lighting was to save on electricity? There was something called soft, runny omuburg, but this time I went with the classic soft, runny omurice. It came with salad and soup, which arrived first. The omurice was indeed soft and runny. What was interesting was the plate, elongated to the left and right, with demi-glace sauce on those sides so you could also enjoy the center plain. Demi-glace omurice is good, but sometimes you want regular omurice too… and fluffy, runny versions usually have sauce poured over much of them, so I thought this presentation worked well. The fluffy, runny texture and ketchup rice were so typical of a neighborhood yoshoku restaurant! It was delicious and nostalgic.

A neighborhood yoshoku restaurant in the shopping street that promotes its hamburger steaks. The interior has a Hawaiian feel, with the lighting turned down. I went in because I wanted 「洋食屋さんの肉野菜炒め」 from the standing menu board outside, but it wasn't on the menu inside. When I asked the waitress, she said they couldn't make it…. In that case, I wish they wouldn't display it outside. With cold water and a hand towel already placed in front of me, I felt awkward getting up and leaving, so I reluctantly ordered the restaurant's recommended hamburger steak. The cutlery case contained chopsticks and a spoon. ■洋食屋KAZU hamburger steak, 750円, with salad, soup, and rice A light consommé soup. The rice was cooked on the firm side. A large hamburger steak. Raw vegetable salad and macaroni salad on the side. Topped with a refreshing, tangy dressing. A generous amount of demi-glace sauce. Mellow, with a faint hint of spices. Fairly thin, meaty, tender, and juicy. The hamburger steak was reasonably priced and delicious, but my mood had plummeted, making it a very disappointing lunch. Apparently, 「洋食屋さんの肉野菜炒め」, which I wanted to try, won't be served for the time being.

A Japanese Western-style restaurant in 『高円寺庚申通り商店街』, the shopping street leading from 高円寺 Station toward 早稲田通り. Outside, it looks like a retro coffee shop, but inside, Hawaiian music gives it a slightly tropical feel. ✼••┈┈••✼••┈┈••✼••┈┈••✼ I visited around 15:30, so the spaghetti dishes were already finished for the day. I was a little disappointed because I'd come for オムナポリタン, but I decided to save that for next time and ordered the restaurant's recommended とろとろオムバーグ☺️ The オムバーグ comes with a large, meaty hamburger steak covered in plenty of demi-glace sauce, and omurice with fragrant chicken rice wrapped in soft, melting eggs❤ Just as the menu said, it was a very generous portion. I ordered とろとろオムバーグ. It's a winning combination of omurice and hamburger steak. The eggs on the omurice really are soft and melty. I wonder if the demi-glace sauce is homemade too. It's rich and delicious. The hamburger steak was generous too, and the whole meal left me thoroughly stuffed.
