Someone knowledgeable about sushi recommended this place, and I've visited for both lunch and dinner. The eel in the unaju gleamed a beautiful gold. I was surprised eel could be this thick. It was very substantial. I thought the sauce was restrained. It was easy to enjoy, and I savored it to the last bite. I realized that the unaju and the unadon (lunch) are different, so next time I plan to order the unadon at lunch. Lunch is in the 1000円 range, and you can also order from the dinner menu during lunchtime. Although it wasn't on the menu, I could also order sashimi. The tuna from 大間, hirame, and other fish were very delicious. I thought fish of this quality was hard to come by. The selection of alcoholic drinks is distinctive too.

I felt like treating myself a little at dinner, so I had the premium unaju. It was my first visit, but they kindly guided me, making it easy to go in alone. With sushi and eel as the main offerings, I pictured it as a restaurant for special occasions. But with options like the horoyoi set (sushi + beer or 1合 of sake) for 2400円, isn't it fairly affordable for people who drink? The interior was a calm space with a retro Showa feel, and it was extremely comfortable. The eel was domestically sourced (from 愛知県 that day, I was told), very tender, without any unpleasant smell, and paired well with the slightly firm rice. The sauce was neither too sweet nor too salty, which I personally really liked. The fish looked very delicious too, so I'd like to find another opportunity to visit. Very occasionally, the restaurant is booked for a private event, so if you're coming from far away, calling ahead would be a good way to make sure.

When I passed by before, a sign advertising unadon for 1500円 caught my attention. Since the start of autumn had already passed, I was worried whether they still had unadon, so I called yesterday to check before coming. As this restaurant specializes in sushi and eel, it seems unadon is always available. I entered at 12時半, with no customers before me and none coming in afterward either. About 20 minutes after ordering unadon and receiving a small dish of kyona greens, the food arrived. Apparently, they start by preparing the eel from scratch, so of course it takes time. It's impressive that they serve eel at lunch. It comes with pickles and shijimi clam miso soup. The eel portion is one piece, but for 1500円, it's actually more than I expected. The rice is cooked firm, but with the sauce on it, it felt just right. Coffee after the meal was included too. Having no customers before or after me at lunchtime was a little concerning, but I enjoyed the food.

I was completely satisfied. The Showa atmosphere inside was nice too. My son and I came in absolutely starving, and we had omakase nigiri, natto rolls, extra squid nigiri, unaju, and beer, with change from 一万円. Delicious! If only it were in our neighborhood!
