(Posting date・visit date) 20264・4・9 Gomoku soba(600円)mapo tofu(600円)→(450円) It seems to be run by an elderly married couple. Though they actually seemed like a couple who were not all that old. My first time in Asagaya since the location of my previous post. This place was not as difficult to find as I expected. Gomoku soba Looks reasonably nice. But at(600円), I did not expect too much. As expected, mainly napa cabbage. Shiitake too. 😲 Surprisingly, squid & shrimp as well. No meat in sight. Oh? There was some. About the size of the tip of a little finger? Two or three pieces. Being too cheap may have its drawbacks. The soup barely had any flavor either. Far too bland. I would rather pay a little more for something I want to eat. ⭐️3 Mapo tofu This was not bad enough to despair over. Like some kind of sauce made slightly spicy. ⭐️3.5 I appreciate the low prices, but… That is how I felt. The service is not good, even if you try to be generous. Neither member of the couple seemed to want to talk. Quite a few customers come in. The set meals look good. At checkout, 600円➕600円🟰1200円 or so I thought, but it was 1050円. Huh? It turned out there was also a mapo tofu(small). The regular one would have been fine. But the(small)was not all that small.
View on GoogleThe ultimate ice-cold beer and mapo tofu!! The ultimate ice-cold beer and snacks ★First order Large bottle of beer (with kimchi)・・550円 Gyoza・・250円 Stir-fried meat and vegetables・・450円 Huh⁉︎ A large bottle for 550円—isn’t that cheap!! What a surprise. Gyoza for 250円・・is this ◯Takaya or what!! I wait while slowly sipping beer with kimchi. Stir-fried meat and vegetables・・well, a standard stir-fry, with just a little meat. I suppose that is what the 50円 difference from stir-fried vegetables gets you. It seemed a little bland, so I sprinkled on soy sauce and pepper. I was happy there was plenty of cabbage. Gyoza・・the wrappers are very chewy. It might divide opinions, but these are a different story from ◯Takaya’s unsatisfying gyoza. Looking at the person next to me, the set meal had a small plate with a small serving of napolitan topped with a fried egg, plus the main dish of rebanira・・600円, that is incredible!! Time to stop being surprised by the prices ★Second order Wontons・・400円 Oshinko・・200円 Mapo tofu (small)・・450円 Large bottle of beer・・550円 I order another large bottle of beer The oshinko arrives. An assortment of kimchi, cucumber, and daikon. Kimchi・: Lately I have been captivated by the delicious, complex flavor of authentic Korean kimchi, so I cannot eat the overly sweet kimchi from a certain yakiniku restaurant sold in Japanese supermarkets. But there is no point expecting that here (^_^;) The daikon and cucumber taste clearly homemade. Wonton soup・・not really to my taste, but perhaps it is vegetable stock? The soup has a very gentle sweetness. There are 8 wontons in it. Mapo tofu・・the tastiest thing I ate today. Neighborhood Chinese restaurants’ mapo tofu tends to be sweet and without sansho, and most do not use douchi either. Their mapo tofu has a tingling sansho kick, along with a nice sweetness from the douchi. Personally, I prefer less douchi and more doubanjiang, but・・ It is certainly excellent with drinks. I actually wanted to finish with omurice, but・・I was completely stuffed, so I gave up and finished. The bill was 2,900円. I will be back!!
View on GoogleDelicious, cheap, relaxing It is not the most inviting place to walk into, but I was truly glad I went. Above all, I had never come across gyoza this delicious and cheap. I was amazed it was 250円!!
View on GoogleTypical of a neighborhood Chinese restaurant, there was not even a word of welcome when we entered, so we just sat down wherever. There are counter seats and 2 tables, and the only menu is what is posted on the wall. I ordered gomoku soba and gyoza, while my companion ordered the ramen set. The gomoku soba was almost flavorless, so flavorless I wondered whether I had COVID. I managed to finish it by adding pepper. The gyoza looked crispy and delicious, but when I bit into them they were somehow watery, definitely not meat juices. I tried a sip of my companion’s ramen soup, and it was strangely very sweet. It was supposed to be shoyu ramen, so it felt really odd. The good point is the unbelievably low prices. I thought that must be why everyone comes.
View on GoogleA Showa-era neighborhood Chinese restaurant about 3 minutes from Asagaya Station toward Koenji. It had been a long time since I had seen an entrance door made of transparent colored glass. The prices are extremely low: a 600円 set meal (as of November 24) came with rice, miso soup, a fried egg and curry-flavored pasta on the side, and oshinko. I often eat rebanira, but this was my first time having it with cabbage and a strong pepper flavor. I also like stir-fried vegetables, so it felt like a bonus. The liver was the blanched kind, like the old-fashioned liver (dry and bitter). There are five types in the 600円 set-meal series, so next time I would like to try something else.
