This Italian restaurant is on the first basement floor of a building near the exit of 浜田山 Station on the 井の頭 Line. It seems to be run by a male owner on his own. It's larger than expected, with a kitchen and counter seats beyond the entrance and five or six tables farther back. At lunchtime, there's a pasta set for one thousand yen, including pasta and a drink. There seem to be about three pasta choices, but when I asked for a recommendation, he suggested the shiitake and bacon set, so I ordered it. The salad was delicious too, and the salt-seasoned shiitake and bacon pasta was simple and tasty. I requested tea after the meal, and as with the pasta, he preheated the cup and served it piping hot. A good place with attention to detail. Lunch rating=3.5
View on GoogleI've been coming since 1992. Of all the pasta I've eaten, the eggplant in tomato sauce made by Chef 松本 at チャオピーノ is the best. After trying it once, I ended up eating it for 26 years. The chef has his own principles: children aged 12 and under are not allowed, Mondays and Tuesdays are regular closing days, and for some reason smoking is still allowed these days. They serve lunch too, and I recommend it.
