Bistro Oji in Nishiogi. The owner's smile and the delicious food are wonderful! Reservations required. The building is designated as Japanese cultural heritage. The room interiors are lovely too.

You can enjoy steak or roast beef in a detached house with a lovely atmosphere. The interior, atmosphere, and service are excellent, but I was shocked by how incredibly fatty the roast beef was. I chose roast beef instead of steak because I like lean meat, but there was so much fat that I could barely finish it. My mother-in-law could only eat one bite. Perhaps it's better to enjoy the atmosphere and time in a private space rather than expect much from the food.... Since they only accommodate one group, it might be good for a special gathering.

Five of us dined together, but only my main-course meat (steak) had an excessive amount of fat. I felt singled out and was extremely disappointed! It was so fatty that after getting home I had such terrible heartburn I had to take stomach medicine. Being treated this way behind seemingly kind hospitality makes me angry. It was the worst restaurant I've ever had a group meal at.

It's in a residential neighborhood, so it might be a little hard to find.
