So many camera inside very cool one from police usage to war usage. Just the number of collections and how the museum take good care of the camera is already very amazing. Definitely worth the value of the ticket. The shop is free if you like to get a peek before deciding going to the museum. My personal memory: My beloved uncle was a photographer, I always remember the days he took document photos for me and when we traveled with Grandma. I hope he will recover from cancer and visits this place in the future.
View on GoogleI wish photography was allowed because there’s so many cameras. You’re going to think you can imagine how many cameras. There’s more than that. The photo valley was also incredible, I didn’t know cameras existing during edo period japan
View on GoogleIf you like taking pictures, you naturally would love the cameras and lenses you use. This museum is the only one in this world that has the complete collections of every single Leica camera and lens ever produced since Leica was established. Of course, this museum also has the entire collections of almost all of cameras and lenses made by the Japanese, French, German, Swiss, Swedish, American, Russians, Chinese and many other countries... There is also a camera that was used by the Apollo 15 astronaut and it is in perfect working condition. Every item is in pristine condition, and most of them are in perfect working conditions. The entire exhibition hall is well lit. What you will see in this museum is the 100+ years of the world's history of cameras... This museum is a treasure! The staff working at the museum are the long time employees of this company and they were/are photographers as well. All of them are very knowledgeable and very friendly. There is a small camera and gift shop adjacent to the museum, just in case if you would like purchase something. However, there are several Yodobashi camera mega stores are all around the Shinjuku area, where you can find anything and everything from camera equipment to nail polish... I had only spent a couple of hours in this museum because I had a flight to catch. For sure, I will spend much more time in this museum next time when I go back to Japan.
View on GoogleWithout going to Germany you will not find such a record of Leica history and a collection of Leica cameras and prototypes anywhere else in the world. The entrance fee is a bit steep at ¥3000 though but the extensive collection of cameras and historical photo collection was worth it.
