If you like spicy this is the place for you! This shop is on the second floor of a small building very near Waseda Station exit 3b. The place is a little small but has tables and bar seating. The soup has a rich flavor and a powerful spiciness. I tried level 2 of 3, and it was very spicy, but I think I could eat the 4th level. The noodles were thick and chewy and complement the spicy soup well, I want to add onions next time. I finished the soup with rice mixed together, and it was also delicious. The only bad things are no english menu, so I didn't know what toppings i could add, and the is the store is a little dirty. But I would still go back.

Beautiful thick noodles with spicy broth that goes smooth on your throat (If you like spicy). A large noodles with spicy broth cost me 800 yen. What a steal!!! I recommend this place for people who like spiciness. Would go again!!!

I absolutely felt like tsukemen today lol, so I went to 高木や, which I’d been curious about. The sign at the entrance recommended mild for first-timers, so I ordered mild. The bowl arrived in about 15 minutes! Nice-looking curly noodles The egg looks good too. The chashu is the firm, bouncy kind lol Now then into the fiery red, appetite-stimulating soup, dip the noodles slurp boldly yummm spicyyy yummm can’t stop. Grab noodles, dunk them in the soup, slurp! slurp! Sometimes the soup splashes lol Of course I’m wearing a white T-shirt today lol Never mind, focus on the noodles lol Finished everything, soup included, in no time lol Thanks for the meal😊 Next time I’ll try going up one spice level. On-site notes― ・There’s a manga shelf near the entrance. ・There aren’t any paper napkins or the like, so watch out if you’re wearing a white T-shirt! ・Self-service water ・Cash only.

【Fooled by “Mild.” The outrageously savage blood-pool hell I encountered in Waseda】 ◆This time’s order ・Mild ¥790+large (1.5 servings) ¥80 ・Bean sprouts ¥100 ・Seasoned egg ¥130 ・Shabu meat (pork) ¥160 --- No wonder the Munch figure on the sign is screaming in agony. I’ve found a terrifying shop where you enter, lured by the sweet promise of “Mild,” only to encounter a savage bowl that blasts through the top of your head……. This is “高木や” in Waseda. A little-known holy site of extreme spice, rumored to be inspired by 中本. The moment the bowl arrived, a bright-red dipping broth appeared before me, coming to kill through sight alone. This blood-pool hell of a visual deserves, in a sense, to be registered among Japan’s 100 spectacular views. “W-well, it’s mild, so this’ll be easy,” I thought smugly, and the next moment after an enthusiastic slurp⋯ COUGHHH!!! HACKKK!!! ……My windpipe exploded and I choked like crazy!!! lol For something called mild, the way it bares its fangs is insane. But it isn’t just hot. The thin, chemical-seasoning-based dipping broth has an exquisite tang that brings the deliciousness of the spice itself to the forefront, keeping those chopsticks moving. And the noodles standing up to this tyrant of a broth are ridiculously handsome too. Thick, curly noodles with a smooth surface, but boiled firm with a snapping bite. That powerful, solid chew will have every firm-noodle fanatic cheering! They grab onto absurd amounts of broth, and with every chew, the wheat flavor and spice fire up your brain. This time I summoned “Mild” with large+bean sprouts+seasoned egg+shabu meat. In this bright-red sea, choosing bean sprouts was absolutely right—the ultimate oasis. A regular serving at ¥790 these days is a pricing glitch, but the noodle quantity is a little modest, so hungry folks should go straight for double. Next time, adding a raw egg topping for extra mildness should definitely hit the spot. Also, I’m intensely curious about “辛子みそ”〜. Spice lovers and fans of snappy, firm noodles. Save this head-blasting shock right now, then noodle your way over to Waseda! . Thanks for the meal! . . ◆Time Log Weekday Monday: Arrived 12:08(no wait) → Bowl arrived 12:15 → Left 12:28 . . ☆Noodle and boardsport lovers, come on over to Instagram☆ Instagram ID:@ak_44_
