Randomly strolled into this restaurant in April 2026. Didn't expect much as we were just looking for a shop to stay during heavy rain. Turned out to be one of the most impressive restaurants of my trip. The food was well-made and well-priced. The owner took a good care of us.
View on GoogleLittle corner shop just a stone's throw away from Shinjuku station. Established since 1915, with 110 years history, the interior is very old school and nothing fancy but the food was excellent. Price is also reasonable considering it is located in the heart of Shinjuku. The unassuming tofu dish with pork belly was so memorable, we were still talking about it long after our meal. Cash only.
View on GoogleHOME-COOKING AT ITS BEST. A quaint little corner store that humbly served the hood since 1960s. It survived the economic meltdowns, the 2 pandemics and a national nuclear disaster, this place is a hidden gem! Please support the establishment! English menu ok. Cash Only! The interior is absolutely a delight, i think it hardly changed since the 80s. Will visit again! Highly recommend to anybody and everybody who visits Shinjuku. unique humble experience. taste of food is simple, and home-cook style. ingredients are fresh thou. portion is just right for 1 person per serving.

View on GoogleWhat a pleasant surprise when we stumbled upon this little eatery by chance when looking for lunch in bustling Shinjuku. The shop ambience felt like I had time travelled back to 50 years ago. Warm service by the one-woman-show lady and most importantly the food was delicious. Super affordable prices considering the shop is in the vicinity of posh shopping malls and expensive restaurants and bars. Will definitely visit again when we're back in Japan.
