I’m so sorry to have to write a negative review. There is only one old lady working here. But I must be truthful. I entered and no one was there to sit you. That is fine. I sit and wait. And wait. And wait. The restaurant is full. I wasn’t in a rush. So it’s no problem for me. Finally the old lady comes and I ask for a menu. She leaves and goes back to the kitchen again. 10 min later. She finally comes back and gives me some noodles. I didn’t order anything. I didn’t even get the menu. I finally had enough. I’ve been waiting over 30 min and didn’t even get a menu and the wrong food. I was going to just walk out. But again. The lady is old and alone. So I decided to just pay for the food. Even tho I didn’t eat any of it. I go to the kitchen and call her. I think she can’t hear me. The other customer notices. Cause they also been waiting for a long time. I just lay 10 on the counter and walk out. They really need some more people in there. At the very least have a menu in the table. People that came in after me was cleaning their own table. I’m sorry. But this is very unprofessional.
View on GoogleI cannot express how much I love this place! In a city where Korean food can often be sweeter than it is spicy, this place is a hidden gem. Their kimchi jjigae is the only thing I want on a chilly autumn day. Besides that, the ladies who run the place are overwhelmingly sweet and always willing to strike up a conversation. While the place is small with only about 20-24 seats, I will continue to come here during my lunch breaks.

View on GoogleDinner on a Friday in early month 11 of 2019. I visited “Korean Home Cooking Seoul-ya” in Shinjuku, Tokyo, with my wife and son. A Korean home-cooking restaurant fairly close to my son's lodgings. We strolled over. The interior is a small, very homelike space with about 5 tables. There were 2 groups of Korean women customers. From the menu, we ordered gamjatang (¥3000), small seafood pajeon (¥980), and lemon sour (¥400). The gamjatang was said to serve 3. As you'd expect from Korean home cooking, 3 kinds of complimentary small side dishes came first. We picked at these while sipping lemon sour. A burner was set up for the gamjatang, and it simmered away. Eomeoni took care of all the gamjatang preparation. Once it was cooked, she served large pieces of bone-in pork onto our plates. Some pieces were hard to strip from the bone, but we grabbed them with our hands and gnawed away. A dish that reminds you of your wild instincts. I didn't notice much heat from the Korean chili powder. We continued eating the bean sprouts and potatoes in it. Around here, I ordered another lemon sour. The gamjatang alone left us very full. The seafood pajeon arrived around this point. A thick pajeon. Quite tasty, with a chewy texture. More than enough food for our family of small eaters. We left satisfied with the Korean home cooking. A gamjatang evening.
