We found this place completely by chance. Very good ramen place. The portions are huge! Be carefull with ordering more toppings. 🙂 They still have the old school ordering machine. To order, you need to able to read the Japanese or you can always pick something randomly (it would be still ramen). :) Staff is friendly even at late hour. Cold beer. Good choice if around!
View on GoogleA Shinjuku classic. Quiet, calm, TV playing in the back with an interesting program. It’s a vibe. Oh, and the ramen is great… Soup: REALLY reminds me of Kamunabi (another banger) or maybe Kamunabi reminds me of this place? I got the shoyu and it’s gentle, yet strong. The deep fried onions add a classic flavor to the bowl. I almost took a star away because I would’ve liked the soup to be hotter, but my overall experience was not degraded because of this which is rare. Noodles: alkaline semi thick curly…..yummy and you have option for free extra noodles Toppings: the char siu is insanely soft and tender here. I thought it would be dry but surprisingly moist. The meat itself doesn’t have much flavour, but no worries…pair it with the soup and it becomes a great experience. Maybe I just got lucky and all the stars aligned when I entered to create the perfect setting, but the whole experience really took me back to a time when things were good, when things were simple. I hope whoever reads this can experience the same thing.
View on GoogleHad the miso tsukumen with pork. Broth could've used a bit more flavor but adding the chili oil and powder did the trick. Pork was really really good. Medium size was a very filling portion. Cash only vending machine in Japanese for ordering which was a bit confusing but we made it work.
View on GoogleIt was very good! Very nice place to enjoy some silent and calm. They also have a english menu on the side that explains the buttons on ordering machine.
View on GoogleIt's tiny and only seats 10 people! BUT, it is DELICIOUS!!! And since it's ramen, the turnover is quick. Buy your food ticket in the vending machine and then go inside and hand the ticket to Ya-chan the owner and cook. Now, lunch time is super crowded but check them out in the early evening so you can beat the after bar eaters!! They have a special EVENING ONLY ramen that is oh soooo yum. Open till 11pm!!! Say hi to Ya-chan from me!
