I was a little intimidated walking in, since nobody was inside at the time and I can't speak any japanese, but the Chef greeted me very nicely and the assistant could speak english and was also very nice, so that helped a lot. It was my first time tasting actual sushi and it was definitely something I wasn't expecting, I still have the flavors in my mouth as I'm writing this, they were easily the best sushi I've ever had. I had the premium nigiri plate, all the pieces were very flavorful with a nice and soft texture I hardly come by where I'm from in Canada. The highlights for me were the salmond row and what I discovered was sea urchin after researching, I never had row that had so much flavor, I was surprised on the initial bite. The sea urchin was super soft and buttery, I didn't even know what I was eating st the time, but it was very good. All the pieces were also very good, but those surpised me the most. I really recommend it if you're around Akebonobashi.
View on GoogleAre tourists in Japan truly experiencing authentic traditional sushi? At Nakanomiya, you can savor genuine traditional sushi crafted by a chef with a remarkable personality, where each dish is a masterpiece of art. Nestled in Akebonobashi, just a 5-minute bus ride from the vibrant Kabukicho, this restaurant offers transparent billing for your peace of mind. Akebonobashi is a place of pilgrimage thanks to the famous movie "Your Name"! Since you’re in Japan, why not indulge in the real deal? I can highly recommend.
View on GoogleReally great quality sushi without the crowds of the touristy spots in Tokyo. It has a neighborhood bar vibe with a really friendly chef (who’s also the owner).
