During my visit to this place with my Japanese friend, he remarked, “this is the best ramen I’ve ever tried in Tokyo.” We tried two different types of ramen: one with pork and the other with beef. Everything was delicious, from the broth and noodles to the eggs and, most importantly, the meat. The cooking was on a whole new level!!! There is likely to be a long line during their opening hours. As a local, I highly recommend this restaurant and send greetings from Fukuoka

I cannot recommend Menya Nishikawa enough. After going around Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka and Kanazawa I can safely say that this is the best ramen in Japan. I’d heard about this place for their slightly thicker broth for their ramen but that seriously undervalues the flavour coming from every crumb. I had the pork special and I never knew any of the ingredients could taste so good! There’s a small crowd inside so the atmosphere is intimate and the staff were happy to chat in limited English. The head chef in particular was a treat and on hearing that my girlfriend was pescatarian made a scallop ramen for her on the spot! For a small beef and pork ramen restaurant, this has everything you’d want from a place to get some noodles. I’d give everything 5 stars but I left atmosphere at 4 in case you wanted a buzzy spot. Me, there’s not a thing I’d change and will be telling everybody around the world to come to Menya Nishikawa.

Food = great ramen! As a last of our trip dinner meal this was a great way to end it! Service = small resto, so service is always more personal and better. Loved it. Atmosphere = nothing special about atmosphere as its small (as usual) Beef broth noodles = it was nice and light, well balanced with flavour Pork broth = creamy, not salty like what we kept having in Japan and well balanced! Both had enough meat and flavour! Definitely a recommendation!

This is a hidden gem. We travel to Japan very often and this is a really good beef broth ramen. Highly recommended if you are looking for quality beef based ramen. The noodle is not your usual ramen and it is thin and chewy. The broth is clear and not your usual salty broth. You can tell that the broth has been simmered over a period of time. 5 star for the food ! Definitely one of the memorable ramen we had in Japan.

I have been in Japan for about a month. I have had about 10-15 different ramen places rated highly on Tabelog in Tokyo, Osaka and Kobe. I rate Menya the highest amongst all of them. I had their pork based ramen w/ egg for ¥1150. It left me very satisfied. I think I may have to return once more before departing Japan. 👍🏼
