I visited Mango Tree Cafe at Lumine Shinjuku and tried their lunch set for ¥1,650. The set came with Thai salad, karaage, soup, and I changed the main dish to khao man gai. The portion was satisfying and the flavors were well-balanced, especially for a Thai restaurant in Japan. The khao man gai was tasty and comforting, while the side dishes added a nice variety to the meal. The restaurant itself is spacious, clean, and comfortable, making it a good option for families or groups. I also liked that the atmosphere was relaxed even during lunch time. Another plus is that Mango Tree Cafe has many branches around Tokyo, so it’s an easy place to visit whenever you’re craving Thai food in Japan.
View on GoogleLocated on the restaurant floor of Lumine 1 in Shinjuku, we found the restaurant to be a bit hit and miss. On the one hand some of the dishes were a bit bland. On the other the fried noodles tasted pretty good. As other have said, you shouldn't expect 100% authentic Thai taste here - like many restaurants in Japan some changes have been made to suit local tastes (fine in my view as long as you expect this). One positive is that the menu includes a variety of spicy options covering most tastes. Also service was fast, friendly and energetic and at the time I visited there were plenty of customers but no wait (early afternoon on a Saturday). If you really want Thai - style food and don't mind eating at a chain then this is a viable option and one I would visit again if I craved some dishes that reminded me of Thailand.
View on GoogleThe food is good. Almost authentic Thai food and not as spicy when your Thailand. Just like Tom Yum soup. Just a disappointed with there banana fritters. The banana is soggy and very oily. No crunchiness just soggy and oily. But the mango pudding is nice.
View on GoogleAMAZING!!!! The mango dessert we had was so good, it felt like 20 flavours in one and tasted so good. Staff were very kind and welcoming and the atmosphere was super good sitting next to the window. 10/10
View on GoogleFor dinner, I tried the Street Food Plate, which consists of two mains and two sides for 1700 yen. The portion was not big, but it was unexpectedly delicious, almost as good as what I had in Thailand; authentic and affordable. Make sure you order rice 大盛り if you’re hungry
