マボカリ 新宿西口店Mabokari Shinjukunishiguchi Mise
Ratings & Reviews "Is it curry? Is it mapo tofu?" It's neither. That's Mabokari. The national dish that now represents Japan isn't sushi or tempura, but curry rice. The world's No. 1 country by population is India, and No. 2 is China. Curry and mapo tofu are the signature national dishes of these two countries. [Mapo Curry], which fuses them in a miraculous balance, is sure to become a dish representing all of humanity, born in Japan.

Dropped by for the first time on instinct as a curry person, and, overall the new curry-rice experience here was okay -if not great. I don'tmean to be negative about the restaurant or its speciality dish, Mabo-Curry, however, my expectations towards ‘Mabo (Sichuan-style cuisine of bean curd and ground pork jn spicy source)’ with Curry was probably too big. In the end, I found my satisfaction after eating was good. The place is neat, clean, and the staff services are decent. Just hope there could be something to add in the mabo+curry flavour, like more Indian taste or healthy chicken options like. Might come back to see the changes on the shop side or my taste side.
View on GoogleBest mapo tofu and chicken my fiancé and I have ever eaten. The service was speedy and inside of the restaurant presents very well! I’d recommend to anyone coming to Shinjuku.
View on GoogleCame here thinking it would be the same experience as the Osaka restaurant, it is definitely NOT. Food tastes completely different, barely taste any curry, just tastes like regular mapo tofu. It’s fine if this is your first time here and never tried this place but comparing it to the Osaka branch, very very different taste.
View on GoogleSmall place! You have to order from a machine as you enter. Luckily a very nice and helpful employee walked us through it. This is some of the best curry I’ve had in Japan. Ordered the regular curry and it definitely has a bite to it! The chicken was cooked perfectly and the egg and rice were great. I’ll be back before I leave Japan.
