First time visiting Japan and we throughly enjoyed this experience. I’m a fan of interactive edutainment and this experience hit the nail on the head. Chinami was our host and fantastic with great English. She was happy to answer any questions we had and took many pictures for us. After you’re donned in your kimonos, they’re more than happy to take photos for you in front a various backdrops. Following the photo op you begin the tea ceremony which is about 45 min. You’ll learn a little bit of kanji, culture of the tea ceremony, and make your own matcha. Pro tip: sweet are eaten before tea not during. ;) 10/10 recommend

A unique and very special way to experience a Japanese tradition. Starting with wearing a real Kimono, including all parts, continuing with a detailed explanation of the room where the tea ceremony is held, to the tea ceremony itself, including an explanation of all the steps, movements and things to say during it. A recommended experience for everyone, a wonderful way to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city. Thank you for the smiling staff for a wonderful memory 🙏

We went for the tea ceremony and this experience went beyond my expectations! Dressing with the kimono was very nice. I also enjoyed a lot the tea ceremony, it was well explained and interactive. I recommend to anyone who come to Tokyo.

Eri was our hostess and had provided an excellent demonstration of a traditional tea ceremony. Beginning with getting dressed and styled in a kimono (both men and women), we were guided into a room with Tatami mats and a matcha set. Eri explained the history and proper etiquette of being a guest and also how to prepare our own matcha. After the tea ceremony, there is plenty of opportunity to explore the streets and I would recommend getting photo opportunities at the Hanazono Shrine next door. The Kimono Tea Ceremony by Maikoya is a must-see destination for visitors. All the staff were welcoming and willing to help. In combination with the Samurai museum, this experience is well worth the experience!

I had the great gift to have a tea ceremony with the wonderful Yuki on my own. Yuki was not just friendly, but also thought me about the japanese culture and history. She also made sure I had a lot of pictures for my family since I'm alone in Japan. Such a lovely person, who also wrote my name in japanese letters for me to carry around. The other staff also made me fell special and safe when they made my hair and put my Kimono on. You can even take the Kimono out with you. High recommendation!
