I don’t know where to begin! My daughter and I were greeted at the door where we removed our shoes and placed them on the shoe rack. We were seated by the sushi chef. We are Japanese Americans who speak very little Japanese so we needed help with the menu. Kinoshita was extremely helpful with using a translator on his phone. We ordered a chicken dish with a spicy citrus ponzu sauce, tuna and yellowtail sushi, mackerel rolls. After we ordered we watched beautiful silver hammered bowls being filled with a savory smelling liquid. We asked the chef what it was and were told “sukiyaki”, deconstructed! A few minutes later Kinoshita asked if we would like to try some. Very intuitive! The food was all presented well and the meal was delicious. Then the sukiyaki came! Simply amazing - probably the best we have even - better than grandma’s!!! And while we were paying the bill, someone took our shoes off the rack, put them by the door and faced them the correct way for us to put on. The attention to detail here is amazingly amazing!!!

My wife and I invited our guest to Oishinbo for dinner. This was our third time and the first time for our guest. The food served was consistently good as expected. Each dishes was nicely made with good presentation. Unfortunately we didn’t get good explanation for all dishes to appreciate the good work and creativity from the chef. Only when the female server served, she was kindly explaining the ingredients used, but when the male server came, there’s no explanation at all. The dining experience was excellent, but the service can be better for my personal opinion. For my wife and I we focus on delightful experience of savoring food, so it’s still fine for us.

Delicious yuba food options. We had the eel tempura (anagoten) & yuba set.

A place hidden away in a narrow alley like a gem. Kyoto specialty - "yuba" (tofu skin). Brought back traditional food 😊 Healthy lunch set meals. The serving tea was also really distinctive in flavour and easy to drink!

You can feel good atmosphere of the Japanese style when come here. The space is separated from others. It means you can spend the time safely here against COVID-19. The dishes are specialized in Yuba. Especially the Dashi-yaki 出汁焼き is so tasty, I highly recommend. You should stop by! And… can you find out the restaurant without getting lost.
