A 2-minute walk from Okubo Station on the JR Chuo Line, along Okubo-dori. It's next door to 「撒椒」, an authentic Chinese restaurant known for being flashy. The restaurant is in the basement, but there are menu boards lined up to an almost excessive degree, so it certainly stands out. It's just so rundown and dirty! And dimly lit. There are so few customers that they've switched off the lights toward the back, leaving it pitch black. Truly a living ruin. Only enter if you have the mental fortitude to withstand this sight…. You order at your table. The staff understand Japanese, so I don't think you'll have any trouble. The menu is fairly extensive, with everything from standard dishes to obscure specialties. It's helpful that there are plenty of noodle and rice dishes… solo diners can feel at ease too. They also have ordinary dishes like mapo tofu and shrimp in chili sauce. I ordered 肥牛螺蛳粉. It's pronounced “Feiniu Luosifen.” Literally translated, I suppose it's freshwater snail noodles with beef. I'd heard beforehand that “luosifen smells,” but it didn't smell at all. Just a normal mala flavor. Did they tone it down because they thought I was Japanese…? The noodles are springier than mixian and slightly thicker. The toppings are beef, bean sprouts, and coriander. The snail noodles have a nice texture, but the dish isn't particularly filling. Well, yes, it's easy to eat, but…. The price is 1188円, leaving me 7 tenths full. I didn't find it particularly delicious or bad, so my impression was underwhelming, but there were other unusual dishes on the menu, so I'd like to return someday.
