I went because I heard the restaurant would close on April 26, 2019, after around 50 years in business. You can have curry for a single coin, 500円. I ordered the garlic-grilled pork, but since it really goes well with plain rice, that might have been the better choice. Next time, I'm thinking of ordering the ginger-grilled pork.

The ginger-grilled pork and garlic-grilled pork are recommended. Rice costs extra. My usual order is curry rice for 500円 and garlic-grilled pork for 550円.

As you can tell from the outside, this isn't a clean restaurant. You couldn't call the food tasty even to be polite. The prices are average. So if you want somewhere clean, cheap, and delicious, you're better off going to a gyudon shop. I come here looking for something else.

The menu prices out front are for individual dishes; rice costs extra. The owner seems hard of hearing. He sighs a lot. The restaurant is cramped, and the condiment containers are sticky with grease…. A Korean-language radio station is playing, and they sometimes give you chilled tofu or miso soup on a whim. The food is like a diner meal: neither good nor bad.

This place is surprisingly cramped and a bit questionable, but somehow I keep coming back. I imagine this elderly couple has been running it in 飯田橋 for years. The menu is simple and limited (perhaps not especially inventive either), but the ginger-grilled pork in particular got me hooked, and I want to go back for more. The salad with the ginger-grilled pork is somehow really tasty. I think it's homemade, and the slightly yogurt-flavored Caesar dressing is good too. On a whim, I suppose, the elderly lady calls out to you, and if you say yes, out come thick fried tofu, tomatoes, and raw green peppers. This was the first place in my life where I ate raw green peppers, and they were surprisingly good (haha). Nothing wrong with a grubby-but-tasty place, right? I don't know how many more years you'll keep going, but please keep up the good work!
