A drink at "一膳" in Takadanobaba. There are all kinds of izakaya in Takadanobaba, but I'd known for a while that this place serves reasonably priced set meals and snacks, so I'd been wanting to drop by! After finishing work in Takadanobaba, I had a quiet drink with my coworkers. First, a toast with draft beer! The place had a vibe where some people were having meals and elderly folks from the neighborhood were drinking in broad daylight. We ordered onion slices (300 yen), tuna chunks (500 yen), plain deep-fried green peppers (300 yen), fried river shrimp (400 yen), macaroni salad (350 yen), french fries (350 yen), spinach ohitashi (280 yen), tatsuta-age fried mackerel (480 yen), agedashi tofu (400 yen), horse mackerel nanbanzuke, and more. Everything is really reasonably priced! Partway through, I switched from draft beer to green tea highballs, and we had a quiet, fun time.

More of an à la carte place than a set-meal place Visited for lunch. The interior has a long, narrow layout with mostly 2-seat and 4-seat tables, but the aisles are narrow, so if you sit facing each other, one of you might feel cramped. When I ordered the daily set meal, it came as a set with katsudon, tuna yamakake, spinach ohitashi, rice, and miso soup. There were also classic set-meal items like the yakiniku set meal, but looking at the menu, I felt the better way to use this place is to order various small side dishes and a variety of à la carte items. The prices are cheap, I guess, but taking the taste into account, my impression was "about what you'd expect," and I didn't think it was particularly good value.
