Shina soba – ¥800: includes half an egg, one slice of chashu, a nori sheet, bamboo shoots and green onions (personal request: no chashu) Decided to visit the local restaurants around me, and was surprised to see how good this restaurant was rated. You order directly from the terminal, with 4 language options (Japanese, English, Chinese and Korean). If you are looking for « Shina soba », it is under « Tokyo style ramen » in English. I chose the cheapest option – a ¥800 bowl of Shina Ramen. As I gave my receipt to the chef, I asked without chashu (the pork slices) and the chef accommodated with no issue. The cheapest bowl comes with a nori sheet, half a soft-boiled egg / ajitama, green onions and some bamboo shoots. It was quickly served; and it is always a pleasure to see the ramen being built in front of your eyes. If you happen to eat chashu, the chef cut his roast to order. You have a bunch of seasonings available – vinegar, chili powder, chili oil, soy sauce, white pepper, pickled ginger – and of course self-service water. The broth tasted like chicken (if I’m not mistaken) and was very tasty. It was light even though you could see and definitely feel the fat! The noodles were a bit too thin for my taste, but suited for this kind of ramen. The egg was perfectly marinated and cooked – one of the best I’ve had in Tokyo. I recommend adding white pepper at some point. I did this halfway through, and it really enhanced the already savoury flavours. I loved the atmosphere and the decorations around me. Even though I am a solo foreigner woman, and was taking pictures, I never felt out of place or judged – half of the costumers at dinner time were foreigners anyway. Everyone was quiet, which was very enjoyable. There was no waiting line, even if the restaurant can only welcome 8 guests, at the counter. For this price, it is excellent. Authentic yet not intimidating atmosphere, very quick and good ramen, foreigner-friendly. I recommend if you are in the neighbourhood!
View on GoogleGreat ramen and a wonderful experience! The self-service ordering kiosk made it very easy to order, especially for tourists. The ramen was delicious, and the owner was incredibly kind—they even gifted us a handmade crane, which was such a thoughtful touch. Highly recommend if you’re in Shinjuku!
View on GoogleWe have been in Japan and eaten at 7 different Ramen restaurants in Tokyo Osaka and Kyoto. This ramen was the best flavored and priced- and very high quality. This seating area holds 8, and the shopkeeper has toys for small children who may be waiting to eat or have finished eating with their parents. The shopkeeper helped me navigate the tablet menu at the front door. The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable, with local keepsakes and cute decor. We ordered the Tokyo style and Shio ramen, with the side of curry and rice. The broth was delicious in both, and so was the pork so we ordered another side of pork. The curry tasted better than homemade S&B with extra flavor and depth. We paid just over 3,000 yen for a very filling meal, and the shopkeeper was very nice and gifted us an origami crane as a keepsake and wished us luck as we continue our journey. Eat here with confidence that this is a local staple with staff that care about you as a customer.
View on GoogleIt was a really delicious ramen, we found it by a chance and I am glad!! You should try their gyoza and Soya Ramen. Even He made a small gift for us. Highly recommended
View on GoogleWe came twice with my partner and each time was a real pleasure. It's probably the best ramen we had so far, the broth is so tasty and everything else is amazing. The chef is welcoming and kind, he gave us an origami to wish us safe travel. Highly recommend !
