I went to this museum using the ぐるっとパス. Japanese author Hayashi Fumiko’s house. Fumiko had a difficult and chaotic life which in the future, influenced her writing and led her to become a famous writer. She never imagined she would be able to have a house on her own, so she carefully planned and crafted this house after studying architecture and carpentry by herself. -They have English explanations for each room -Visitors can only see the house from the outside. The only rooms with access were the atelier (need to take off your shoes) and warehouse -At the atelier they have videos and a small exhibition about Hayashi Fumiko, all in Japanese -Pictures allowed (besides inside the atelier) -Clean toilets -Water fountain -Not barrier-free as there are many stepping stones and no slopes in stair areas -No bicycle parking (there is a near public parking space under the bridge, free under two hours)
View on GoogleBefore visiting Fumiko Hayashi Memorial Hall (her and her husband's), it would pay to read about her. As she didn't start school until she was 12 or 13, followed her ambitions and became a successful poet and author, a movie 'Floating Clouds' was based on her book of the same title. Fumiko's home sat on about 900 sq. mtrs, a large block of land by Japanese standards and her beautiful timber home, seems to me, a labour of love, it shows! This is a very worthwhile excursion to take when visiting Tokyo 🙏🙏🙏
View on GoogleBeautifully preserved house that is linked to the interesting life of Hayashi Fumiko - a famous Japanese author from last century. The house has a modern and relaxed atmosphere with an amazing Japanese design that still feels really contemporary. Peaceful gardens in a nice part of Tokyo - was great to experience this area.

View on GoogleVery nice older house, very peaceful .Awesome architecture. Friendly welcoming staff. Garden would have been even more beautiful if more of the plants were in bloom.
