目黒五十番 in Ushigome-Kagurazaka. A handmade meat-bun shop that suddenly appears in a residential neighbourhood. ■チーズ肉まん 721円 There were 4 kinds of hot buns that day, and I chose the チーズ肉まん recommended by the lady running the shop. Such a generous size! The dough was thick and fluffy. There was plenty of cheese in the meat ground that morning, and it had also melted into the inside of the dough, making two layers, top and bottom. Rich and delicious. There were many refrigerated varieties, including 椎茸肉まん and 貝柱肉まん, so next time I'd like to buy some to take home too.

Exquisite handmade meat buns! Xiaolongbao! Chimaki! And assorted shaved ice & cream sodas! I found this hidden gem just a ５-minute walk from Ushigome-Kagurazaka Station! You can walk from Kagurazaka Station too! The portions are absolutely huge and delicious! The 五目肉まん has shrimp, meat, quail, and shiitake, in an extra-large bun pinched shut at the top. The チーズ肉まん has ground pork, vegetables, and cheese, with a branded mark. The 椎茸肉まん contains savoury simmered shiitake and red dried fruit. There are also mini meat buns and sweet bean buns! They have several shops: the Meguro main shop, 神楽坂フルオンザヒル shop, Sangenjaya shop, and at the Musashi-Kosugi shop you can buy from a vending machine! You can eat in the space outside the shop too! Great for a snack! You can take them home as well—wonderful! Especially in summer, cream soda and shaved ice go well with meat buns! Today's 宇治金時 shaved ice was delicious～! And I chose strawberry cream soda, which was delicious too🌟 Quite a few people were eating outside! Apparently 「フルオンザヒル」 in the shop's name comes from the previous owner's love of The Beatles' famous song 「fool on the hill 」🌟 Do visit sometime! Highly recommended!

I had the 貝柱肉まん, and my mouth was truly delighted. Now, you too, GO to your nearest 目黒五十番! 【Even the filling is a surprise! My expectations were overturned】 It sits quietly in a residential neighbourhood one street off Okubo-dori. The exterior is rather plain. As the shop's name suggests, it serves large handmade meat buns. Beyond their size, they're packed with hefty chunks of meat, and the seasoning soaked into the meat and filling is quite good. At first I thought they were a little expensive, but after eating, the satisfaction exceeded the price. They're in a different league from other shops' sparsely filled buns, overpowering seasoning, or obviously ready-made flavours. I think they'd make good gifts too. ※貝柱肉まん→A whole large scallop sits impressively inside, delivering both great flavour and satisfaction.
