A hidden Italian restaurant where anyone is bound to get lost on their first visit🍝 A hidden Italian gem that you’ll almost certainly get lost finding on your first visit ✨English below I went into a back street in 神楽坂, kept looking only to the right, and ended up at a dead end. After making a U-turn and walking back, I finally found it! The area between 飯田橋〜神楽坂 really has so many stylish places to eat✨ This time I ordered: ・真鯛 and タンカン carpaccio (1,860円) ・Spicy shrimp ajillo(1,200円) ・Eggplant and minced meat moussaka, Greek-style gratin(1,480円) ・Baguette, 4 pieces(450円) ・Squid ink paella loaded with seafood(2,880円) ・Orange juice(600円) The carpaccio featured タンカン, which I think I was trying for the first time. Eaten with the 真鯛, the gentle sweetness of the タンカン harmonized with the fish and tasted wonderful! This carpaccio, with its seasonal fresh fish, became a favorite🐟🍊 The spicy shrimp ajillo had wonderfully plump shrimp and delicious heat! Dipping the baguette into it was addictive, and it disappeared in an instant. The hot oil and garlic aroma were fantastic🦐🫶 The Greek-style gratin was finished right in front of me, and the moment it arrived, the aroma of cinnamon and cumin gently wafted up🌿 Wondering what it would taste like, I tried it and found chunky pieces of potato and eggplant inside, which were delicious together with the minced meat and sauce! The spice aromas felt fresh and gave the dish an exotic character🇬🇷✨ And finally, squid ink paella loaded with seafood🦑 Paella always gets me excited the moment it arrives. It was piled with seafood, and the rice had thoroughly absorbed its savory flavor—delicious. If I could ask for more, as someone who loves crispy rice, I wished there had been a little more of the crispy bottom〜🤭 I chose orange juice this time, but inside there were bar-counter-style seats and a wide selection of wine and whisky🍷 I think it is an irresistible space for people who enjoy alcohol. There is also a private room at the back, and the space beyond the entrance resembling a large painting is beautiful. It felt like a restaurant suitable for all kinds of occasions✨ Circo 📍東京都新宿区神楽坂4-5-4 1F 🚃4-minute walk from 飯田橋駅 ⏰Mon〜Sat・days before holidays・days after holidays 17:00〜23:30(Food L.O.22:30/Drinks L.O.23:00) 🎌Closed: Sundays・public holidays ☑︎Reservations recommended/check Instagram ※Please check the latest opening hours and closing days. I turned into one of Kagurazaka’s back alleys, kept looking to the right the whole time, and ended up at a dead end. When I turned around and walked back, I finally spotted it! The stretch between Iidabashi and Kagurazaka is packed with stylish cafés and restaurants—this area is truly foodie heaven ✨ This time I ordered: Sea bream & tankan citrus carpaccio (¥1,860) Spicy shrimp ajillo (¥1,200) Greek-style moussaka with eggplant & minced meat (¥1,480) Baguette – 4 pieces (¥450) Squid ink seafood paella (¥2,880) Orange juice (¥600) It was my first time trying tankan, a citrus similar to mandarin orange, and it paired beautifully with the sea bream. The gentle sweetness of the fruit balanced the delicate fish perfectly—such a refreshing, seasonal dish! Definitely one of my new favorite carpaccios 🐟🍊 The spicy shrimp ajillo came sizzling hot with plump, juicy shrimp and just the right amount of heat. Dipping the baguette into the garlicky olive oil was addictive—I finished it in no time. That aroma of garlic and hot oil was irresistible 🦐🫶 The Greek-style gratin was finished right before my eyes, and as soon as it arrived, a wave of cinnamon and cumin aroma floated up 🌿 Inside were chunks of potato and eggplant mixed with minced meat and savory sauce— such a flavorful and comforting yet exotic dish 🇬🇷✨ And finally, the squid ink seafood paella 🦑 It’s always exciting when paella arrives at the table! Loaded with seafood, every grain of rice was packed with ocean umami. If I’m being greedy, as a crispy-rice lover, I wish there had been a bit more okoge 🤭 I went with orange juice this time, but the restaurant also has a bar-style counter with a great selection of wine and whisky 🍷 There’s even a private room in the back, and the space beyond the large, art-like entrance is stunning. It felt like a place that could suit many occasions—from casual dinners to special nights out ✨ Circo 📍 1F, 4-5-4 Kagurazaka, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo 🚃 4-min walk from Iidabashi Station ⏰ Mon–Sat, the day before or after holidays 17:00–23:30 (Food L.O. 22:30 / Drinks L.O. 23:00) 🎌 Closed on Sundays & public holidays ☑︎ Reservations recommended / check Instagram for the latest info ※ Business hours and holidays may change, so please confirm in advance. A place to casually enjoy Mediterranean cuisine in the calm atmosphere characteristic of 神楽坂. Recommended for wine lovers or when you want to enjoy food a little different from the usual.
